3 stars as its normally great! But times like tonight it's been god awful.. I had asked for a kids vegan pizza but received a normal cheese pizza even though I had asked for VEGAN due to milk allergies. They put non vegan dips with the pizza which had spilt onto the pizza contaminating it. The chips were chewy but also crunchy like they had been left in the fryer. The chicken in the burgers was also overly chewy but not pink( thankgod) the only good thing was to recieve from the order was some free chips as a consolidation for the pizza.. but even they weren't that great.
It's a utter shame that this happens as it is normally great and the staff are friendly. I must say that staff are not consistent and don't seem to last. You have trouble identifying them at best as they wear casual clothes and no name badges..is if hard to make staff appear to be staff?
When we sit in the pub to eat it is great but everytime we order online things seem to get messed up or blatantly ignored even serious request such as alletgies.
Things need to change or a proper manager needs to...
Read moreUpdated my review from 2020, unfortunately it’s gone down hill since my 4 star review. The cooking is very hit and miss. I now ask for burgers ‘well done’ because even then they come raw in the middle (I actually like burgers medium but raw is ridiculous). Pizzas are never cooked though (ie raw dough in middle and burnt at edges plus covered in soot) how difficult is it to sweep the pizza oven every now and then? Really annoying queuing system at the bar which some people adhere to and others don’t. Bar staff need to take control and ask people to come to the bar like a normal pub. Then don’t ask “whose next?” Surely it’s part of the role to simply look and know who is next to be served, saves a lot of bother and bad feelings. That is of course if you can get in at all, the tables are often booked with invisible people and so turn away paying customers. Please charge a deposit or don’t allow booking. Sorry grumpy...
Read moreAbsolutely love this new gem in Oxford. We have always loved The Rusty Bicycle, so to have a new and improved sister pub open up even closer to our home was an absolute dream!
The food is just as wonderful as The Rusty with mouth-wateringly juicy burgers and the best garlic mayo on the planet!
The decor is so fun and the pub has a really nice feel overall. There are LOTS of tables of various sizes and plenty of outdoor seating too, some with heating lamps and some just in the large beer garden.
Another perk, is the small (but very handy) car park at the front of the building! I think this will prove very handy for those coming from further afield and is pretty rare in Oxford!
Bar staff and waiting staff were extremely friendly and efficient! We will be back (again and again!).
We fully recommend a visit to The Up In Arms (especially on a Monday for #BurgerMonday...
