Food and tea was delicious but the service made me upset. Husband was in all night and got discharged at 8am so we thought we'd grab breakfast, asked for two cream teas (there was a poster advertising it for £3.80), the look I got was confusion, I said what it was, more confusion, next we asked how many scones we wanted and if we wanted cream or jam. I stated a few times it comes with all that and tea, she rang up the scones, cream and jam only and I said again we want tea, in the mean time she's asked a girl behind her and when that didn't work she asked the manager (I'm guessing) how to put in cream tea or I quote "tea, scones and cream". The manager put in scones, jam and cream (which was £2.80 and on a different poster), looked me in the eye and said "2.80 and 2.80 is 5.60 yes? 5.60 please", then asked if we wanted tea, we just said yes and paid the extra, £9.60 total. So two plates, two cups and two tea pots later with no tray we sat down. I'd been awake for 21 hours by the point and just wanted to relax and eat something and it was very nice and hit the spot but if only the staff knew what a cream tea was or knew the offer at least I wouldn't be writing this right now. I know it was early but for a hospital cafe I left feeling very upset...
Read moreI would like to know how a business like M & S in a hospital environment can sell sandwiches that are out of date. I was at a meeting at this hospital today and bought a chicken sandwich! After I had eaten half of it I happened to look at the date on the sandwich and it was out of date by a day! I was visiting a hospital, I really did not want to perhaps by eating an out of date chicken sandwich be a patient!! This was the M & S Café! I work in the healthcare arena and the lack of concentration to detail is frankly disgusting and not what I would expect from M & S. And all they did was refund me the money, no apology. Can you imagine if I was a venerable person who ended up with food poisoning, I called their customer services but they just cut me off!!! Shame on you M & S, especially in a hospital environment, Surely you check the sell by dates? Obviously not!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very angry with M & S for their lack of care and diligence! Come on, its not difficult to remove the out of date sandwiches off the shelf before you open in the morning!! Disgusted with you. Thanks for the £4 back, lets hope I don't end up with food poisoning from the out of date chicken!, or you could be facing a much...
Read moreAm giving 1 star as there is no option for 0. Visited the place today morning 20/08/25 as had done for at least a week while in hospital. Bought some croissants and went to automatic machines for payment but the card didn’t go through and I didn’t notice it. A guy called Sinj shouted at me to return to pay. I returned and while I was trying to pay with a different card he was talking in very aggressive and rude way to me loudly shaming and blaming me in front of other people, making it sound like I left without paying on purpose. I asked another employee to speak to the manager and she told me that this guy Sinj is the manager. This guy should not be employed at all, let alone making him a manager. And from the reviews here it seems he behaves like this to everyone. He is destroying...
