The place used to be one of our favourites however today’s experience will be our last one.
The only reason this place is getting two stars is because the staff are lovely and that certainly deserves recognition.
My crayfish linguine arrived with almost no white wine sauce thus the only thing you could taste were the pasta and chillies. The waiter kindly offered for the dish to be cooked again but we were starving so we have settled on having a side of the sauce delivered table side.
My partners mushroom linguine was good.
We ordered the garlic bread with tzatziki and while the tzatziki itself was great, the garlic bread was simply okay, please bear in mind the dish costs £4.50
The side of fries at £3.50 tasted great but the portion should easily be doubled at the very least considering it’s massive mark up.
The peanut butter and brownie milkshake arrived with no cream or actual brownie pieces, not that they were advertised but at £5 a pop you would have thought they put more effort into it, all in all it tasted distinctly average.
We asked for the dishes to be sent out when ready and cooked straight away but somehow we fries and garlic bread arrived after the linguine’s. The drinks were served last.
While the mains represent reasonable value for money and the staff are polite the venue leaves a lot to be desired for especially when you take into account the high cost of the...
Read morePopped into Jacobs & Field in Headington for breakfast and was genuinely impressed not just by the food, which was absolutely spot on, but by the warm and impeccable service, particularly from Anton, the manager on duty. Anton was a real credit to the place. From the get-go, he made us feel incredibly welcome friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about both the food and the customer experience. It’s rare these days to come across someone who runs a place with such care and quiet confidence. Nothing felt rushed, everything ran like clockwork, and yet the whole vibe remained relaxed and easy going. The breakfast itself was cracking fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully done. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they’re serving. But what really made it memorable was the atmosphere, and that’s down in no small part to Anton. He checked in with every table, chatted with guests in a natural, unforced way, and kept everything ticking along smoothly. All in all, a proper gem of a spot. Great food, brilliant service, and a manager who clearly leads by example. I’ll definitely be back and if Anton’s on, you’re in...
Read moreMe and boyfriend usually go on Sundays for brunch. The food is delicious. Today they were a little off tho.
We usually sit in the booth seats, which are nice, and there's more privacy. Today we sat on the other side since it was a busy day. It was okay, but it took 20 minutes to have someone ask us for an order. When the waitress took the order of a whole group of men who came in after us. We had to ask to have our orders taken. Then, the other waitress kept flirting with the man next to us. So orders were going even slower. We brushed it off. Because they seemed to pick up the pace, and asked if we were okay.
But then a group came in, and one person started speaking very loudly about a gross surgery he has just gotten. While we were eating our meal. It made me not want to eat. I kept looking over at them to kindly give to them a look to change the subject. But this boy kept going on and on about this surgery for about 15 minutes... This isn't the restaurants fault. Yet it was a very torturous brunch today. We got up paid the bill and left. We will be sure to only sit in the booths...
