Our clutch and fly wheel needed to be replaced and the car was undriveable. We managed to get a few quotes all between 1,100 to 1,300. Unfortunately our reliable garage that we normally go to wasn't able to fit us in for a week and a half. So we decided to go with Eco Tyres who had quoted us approximately 950 for the clutch to be replaced and said that it would be around another £350 for the fly wheel. This quote was the higher end, but because they had availability we decided to go with them.
The few pros: they were able to pick up our car for a small extra fee they were available to do the work relatively promptly (or so we thought).
CONS: Communication wasn't great - They picked up our car on Friday and we had no further communication with them unless we contacted them. We called on Saturday and they told us that they needed a part and that should come in on Monday. We called on Monday (again we had had no contact from them) and we were told the work wouldn't be finished and to call again on Tuesday. During this call I asked about if they offered a blue light discount as it had suggested previously that they did on their facebook page (this may have been out of date), the man on the phone said not to worry and we would be able to talk about the payment tomorrow. Tuesday - We called to ask if the work was done and they said it was (again we hadn't had a call to say it was done or to come and get it). When we arrived we expected the cost to be around 1,300 (again the higher end of the quotes we had received). Instead the cost was closer to £1,600. My husband explained what we had been quoted - however they stated that that was the price.
I expect that if a cost is going to be higher than originally quoted that this is communicated to the client before the work is done. I would also expect good communication around when the work is likely to be completed. The reason we chose Eco Tyres was because we wanted a prompt service due to the level of inconvenience we were experiencing without the car. If we had known it would cost as much as it did and would have taken as long as it did we would have waited a couple of days extra for our own garage to be able to...
Read moreA proper rip off and time wasters. After inserting reg number and all the information online the price of £160 +vat for a full service was given to me. I even called the garage a male receptionist said, it takes one and half hour to do it. I booked for 09.00, I arrived at 09.05. The male reception was busy with one more client. At 09.15 a female receptionist arrived and after attending to me, she said this car takes 8 litters of oil the price on the Web is only a guideline( this is not even mentioned on their own website which I booked and I was given a final price) She said the new price is going to be £217+vat it means about 250+ and Imshe has to order the parts (they had the car info, so why they don't do it before hand) ,she said it takes 3 hours to do it. I was shocked but I accepted. After 2 and half hour I turned up. Seeing my car is on the courtyard assuming it is ready. To my shock she said they haven't started yet. But I said to you it takes 3 ro 4 hours (a lie she said 3 hours, I always record my conversation when a garage and money is evolved. I asked to not go ahead with this service To her surprise as she doesn't care about wasting a client's time, I got the car key and drove away. There is no business from me for this garage as they don't care and the price is a big difference. And not mentioning my time that they wasted.
I just read your reply,.why do you lie I have recorded our conversation I can produce it if your company requires it. By lieing you get to no...
Read moreAVOID AVOID AVOID terrible experience the staff here have no idea what the mechanics do to them knowing cars. Twice by both reception staff they have told me wrong info on my car. I had an MOT a week later after their work at a dealer garage and were advised eco Tyres had removed a heat shield WITHOUT advising me. When I called them to get an explanation, he said well it will make noise, it had corrosion, and isn't required anyway... do you want it back on your car? I said yes, if you take something off my car obviously as a garage I'd expect for it to be put back!? why wouldn't a garage call the customer and advise the part is corroded and replace, as I would have have accepted.. I distrust their advice now on both issues with my car and their work undertaken . I have since been back for them to attatch my heat shield on the car. Also advising there has been a rattle since the previous work (which my partner explained the day after their work) , one reception staff advised me to drop by and they would look so upon explaining this today ... the other guy was rude ignorant said had nothing to do with them they didn't touch it. my car was with them 2 weeks with lack of updates, lack of knowledge what was being done by the mechanic and rude ownership. I wouldn't use again and made this clear on me leaving. take no notice of response as this is not their attitude when work is questioned.. it's just for show...
