Let’s start with the kebabs, easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Perfectly marinated, grilled to juicy perfection, and served with a side of fluffy rice and fresh salad. You can tell there’s real care and tradition in the way they prepare them. Every bite was a reminder of why simple, well-executed food can be so powerful.

But the showstopper? The Lamb and Beef Qabuli Pulao. This dish alone is worth a return visit. The meat was fall-apart tender, seasoned just right, and served over a mountain of aromatic rice with sweet carrots and raisins adding a delicate balance. It’s one of those dishes that doesn’t just feed you, it stays with you.

The service was equally memorable. The staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. We had the most fantastic dining experience at this hidden gem in Southampton! The atmosphere is so cozy and authentic, with traditional floor seating that made the whole meal feel special. But the food? Absolutely amazing and great value for what you get! We started with the family meal deal for four, which was delicious, and we also added three extra naans (definitely worth it!) and the lamb karhai – everything was bursting with flavor. But we loved it so much that we couldn’t resist ordering the No. 65 Baghlan Mixed Grill Platter – the most succulent kebabs we’ve ever had! 🔥

We also tried the salted lassis, and they were fantastic – perfectly refreshing to balance all the rich flavors. And don’t even get me started on the hummus… it was divine. My 7-year-old literally polished it off before anyone else had a chance to grab more! 😋

What truly made this experience memorable was the incredible service. The owner behind the counter was so kind and attentive, especially with the kids. He even offered them cake samples, which they loved 🎂. His warmth and generosity really made the experience even more special.

After reading some of the reviews I was slightly concerned but still wanted to try an Afghan cuisine in Southampton so went there for iftar . Service and communication from the owner was very poor and the most important and disappointing thing was he changed the meat in the dish without telling me . He charged me for lamb skewer when he replaced it with mince . As we were opening fast my son started eating the dish so at the time of the bill I asked the owner why u didn’t put lamb . He said lamb was finished so we give u mince instead . I asked him you should have told me before and his reply was we are very busy so didn’t tell . I was extremely surprised by his answer and then at that time of the bill he insisted I pay for the dish price as advertised knowing he swapped lamb skewer with mince . It’s sad people are not honest and want to earn money by scamming customers and on top of that they don’t have any shame . I read similar review previously and sadly have experienced this now .
