I find it bizarre yet interesting seeing just how many people are saying they miss Duel and wish Alton Towers didn’t touch this attraction, because Duel was in an absolutely dire state by the 2022 season with half the effects broken and poorly run. It just seems… weird to me.
Thankfully, I can confirm The Curse at Alton Manor is vastly superior compared to anything Duel used to be in my view. It’s by no means perfect and could do with some additional updates such as filling in the blank spaces, but the experience this ride now offers is a massive upgrade (I’m so glad the laser guns are gone).
Some highlights are the new effects are very cool, the lighting inside is superb and no longer overly-bright anymore and the pre-show is absolutely fab and should not be missed when queuing. Was quite impressed in this room!
I would say for families, be aware this ride is considerably darker theme-wise than what Duel was, so be cautious about taking little ones inside. It’s still a great family scare attraction so nothing extreme occurs, but the youngest ones might get a bit scared in places.
Overall, fantastic job Alton Towers. Keep up with maintaining the effects, tweak the dark scenes a little and you’ll easily have the best dark ride...
Read moreToday was a shocking experience of what can only be described as the worst ride I have ever been on... I was extremely excited to try this ride today to experience as others have reported 60% to 70% pure darkness a few random whispering noises very poor quality props and attempts at pop up scares etc if i could give minus stars I could the most exciting part of the ride was the interaction over my partners red hair prior to getting on the train/carriage really disappointed and surprised this has any positive feedback if what we experienced was the norm if that's not the case why have the ride open by the looks of it they spent more money on the promo video then the actual ride
Not surprised though as the customer experience at alton towers has been declining drastically year in year out for the last 15 years atleast merlin should be doing alot better if you can't provide expect high standards its time you sell up and let some one take...
Read moreThis part of the park which is now known as gloomy wood but will be known byany as a part of the haunted hollow area to. The traditional old haunted house is still in this location and still offers itself as one of the theme parks attractions and rides, displaying many of the haunted looking antiques. The ride is pretty much similar to how it as always been but now without the interactive shooting and scoring points against your friends and family on the ride, which is a real shame and this was unique to the park and made things more fun as the ride itself is quite boring unless your young and not to keen of the dark. I do have to say that the ride staff look great in their ride uniforms unique to this ride and will be perfect for the well...
