As much as I love the shops here- I can never get enough of tkmax homesense, hobbycraft and the range- it was very disappointing and disheartening to receive a parking charge notice of £100. This was an accident on my part due to the lack of signage in this place! Let me explain:
My partner and I were on a mission to shop at hobbycraft, and this was the closest one to us, so we drove there from centre of Manchester, parked right in front of hobbycraft proper excited jumpin to go in and so we did, got out the car and went through the doors straight away. I looked here on google maps street view just to check if there were any signs on the turn in, and on the most recent image there’s like 2 sad little “parking tariffs apply” signs with white background and they’re way off to the sides of the pavement! Not sure if they changed that or not or if they’re still there now but if so then they’re very easily missed! No wonder we didn’t know until after over 2 hours of knocking about getting stuff for Christmas in hobbycraft. We came out the doors and only just then noticed the pay stations.
So like good citizens we immediately went to pay on the Ring Go app! I don’t recall having the option to pay for the 2 hours we missed, but we did pay to stay until 5 when the parking gets free. Went around the shops some more, went into stockport city centre even, and eventually left at half 5.
One month passes and I’ve just seen the parking charge letter! I’m so fuming, I ended up writing a strongly worded email appealing on the grounds that the signs weren’t clear enough, and noticing our error we literally paid for the rest of our parking! And that we’re flippin happy to pay £3 for the 2 hours on the app right now! Also told them to get better bigger signs especially on the turn in, maybe even install a barrier ticket gate. I also told them it was atrocious they charged parking for disabled bays (I saw on another review), and then had the audacity to have the tiniest must unnoticeable signs and pay stations with the parking info.
Wish us luck...
Read moreFirst visit to this car park, being autistic and having hyper focus I drive according to Google Mats straight to Hobbycraft and like others here completely missed the signs, they are small signs on a white background and non existent at Hobbycraft or on either side. I received a 100 pound penalty for this and appealed but they are greedy money grabbers and are absolutely not concerned with disability or neurodivergence. They apply their rules regardless of disability which means they are indirectly discriminatory. It's a shame that they destroyed the shopping experience for me and for many others. I will never set foot on this...
Read moreAvoid this place unless you want a £100 parking fine. They mislead visitors by offering free parking on Sundays but not on Bank Holiday Mondays—something that’s not clearly communicated. I received a PCN two weeks after visiting for shopping. It’s incredibly frustrating.
Do not park here under any circumstances. No wonder so many shops are shutting down. I appealed to Ocean Parking, but the process was pointless—they’re an unprofessional and unhelpful company. I don’t understand why any business would trust them with car park management.
I won’t be returning, and I hope more shops relocate to areas with fairer,...
