You can always tell a sign of a good pub and that's by the queue waiting with eager anticipation outside for it to open. I was there on a busy Friday afternoon and as soon as the doors were open, we were shown to our seats in a cosy room with a fire going. It's a traditional pub with old fashioned good values and service. Everyone in the queue was greeted and seated with the most professional courtesy. Our drinks and food order was taken promptly and we didn't have to wait long for the drinks or food either. It is traditional, good pub food and I enjoyed the pie, chips and peas with a nice Ginger sponge whilst my friend had a Panini and a cider desert 😃 I also noticed that the pub has bands on at weekends and I would love to give this a try at some point in the future. I generally avoid the night life now days due to the male dominating drink culture and general idiocy that runs alongside it. However, this looks like a pub that would be very comfortable for people of all ages but mostly for people that want a nice time out without fear of it been ruined by idiots. The landlord and staff were absolutely excellent. It has been some time since I've seen such great organisation and service in a pub. Well done...

I popped in tonight for a couple of drinks after work with a relative. Upon entry we received a lovely reception and a fantastic pint. The lady that initially served us must have finished her shift and was replaced by a colleague.

The first pint of ale she poured was atrocious l - so bad I had to return to the bar and ask for a replacement. Although this was replaced I was met with a really pour attitude. I thanked the lady and was treated with utter disdain.

After finishing the drink, I decided to leave the pub. On the way out I offered my thanks for the sevice and said goodbye. The same lady completely ignored me and gave me a really malicious look.

This was a pub I really enjoyed and often visited when it was owned by Joe and Steve and, latterly, by Geoff and Maria. I’ve never felt more unwelcome and an inconvenience.

I don’t expect a 5 star service or any ā€˜airs and graces’, just a little civility and politeness. I don’t think I’ll be...

So a while ago i left a review after it just changed hands. It was nice but they had changed the menu..My friend and I revisited just last week 24th July 2025.It was spot on . The food was really good , piping hot, chips were gorgeous ,the kids meal was excellent value and big portions too . My friend took half home for her toddlers tea. Atmosphere was lovely , staff very friendly and attentive . We enjoyed it very much and we will be back. It was nice to sit outside too in the beer garden. We also got the little mint chocolate when you pay your bill , which we love. The only thing i miss is the turkey , stuffing snd cranberry sandwich..but i am hoping they will put that on the menu again nearer winter or make a special out of it...

Been years since I frequented this pub but tonight we ventured out from Sale to see our friend play Bass with the Blues Blasters. Checked with the landlord (I presume) what time kick off was and he was very helpful. We went away and had a rubbish meal in the centre of Stockport and then returned for the gig at about 8.00. The service from the bar was quick, friendly and the atmosphere really conducive to a good night out. The stage was at the back of the pub in a covered area with plenty of seating for all and a perfect place for bands to perform Had a great night in rockin or should I say Bluesin surroundings listening to some great music...and well done to all the staff and the chaps in the band for tonight.

2 stars because the pub looks lovely and it's clean with a nice outside area. It lost 3 stars because of the menu. I ordered a cheese and pickle sandwich for £4.95 and I was offered coleslaw or olives which I declined thinking the sandwich will be on nice bread and there will be a side salad for that price. Its was a few slices of plain white bread with slices of cheese, not even grated and no side salad! It looked like something a child would have made. They didn't charge me for it in the end but I certainly won't be choosing this pub for a meal again. Maybe a pint, but not with those menu prices.

What a lovely pub... Totally dog friendly and the staff were amazing. My partner had the shepherd's pie that's in the picture. We can't thank the staff enough for the welcome and fuss they made of our dog also. We don't live in the area but the reviews and the fact that they are dog friendly made us visit this pub. If we are ever in Stockport in the future we will definitely visit again. Thank you... From myself my partner and Peanut our dog. They don't have a car park fyi
