Couldn't sleep so decided to travel with a friend from middlesbrough to go see the northern spire bride. I did not realise they turn the lights of at midnight . Was a bit disappointed but it was still worth seeing I mist go before midnight next time 😆

A new icon for the city. Saves so much time between red house and pallion. Be great if higher viewing and parking areas. Though you can park on the north side just down from the premier inn hotel and walk up from the layby

It’s wonderful that the bridge is finally open to pedestrians today. It is beautifully build and looks spectacular. Well done to all who took part in its construction.

The bridge opened on 29 August 2018. It is a two span cable-stayed bridge with an A-frame pylon rising to 105m (344ft) it crosses the River Wear between Castletown on the north to Pallion on the south bank. The new bridge has two lanes of traffic in each direction, plus shared cycleways and footpaths along its full length. At its midpoint, it is around one kilometre to the west of the Queen Alexandra Bridge. To the West of the bridge on the South Bank of the River is a Concrete shipwreck, a victim of war...

This is old news and it’s very difficult to find up to date information. All we want to know is when the bridge is going to open? Are they using Sharpie pens to colour it in? We’ve had a lot of good weather for the painters to catch up, moreover they can’t blame the weather any more. It is Wearisome, and bothersome to understand what the hold up could...
