"Hungry" boys is definitely an appropriate name - after waiting nearly 1hr 30 mins for a burger and chips.
We went for the pre-launch taster evening which unfortunately was memorable for more bad reasons than good.
Our order was somehow lost, so we had to re-order after already waiting an hour for the food to come, with those that ordered after us all being served long before. When chasing our order up, the staff didn't return to update us which meant we had to ask them again or ask somebody else. The staff were friendly enough but it all seemed a bit chaotic.
When it eventually came, the food was pretty decent. The smashed burgers and Mac 'n' bacon chips were very tasty. The food doesn't look like it does in the pictures and it's not quite on the same level as a 'Five Guys', but it's not too far off. Both the chicken and vegan wings were pretty good although the BBQ sauce could have been better.
There was yet another mix up with our desserts so we ended up waiting a while for those too. They were OK although I'm glad we didn't pay more on top for them. The cheesecake bases were still quite frozen so they weren't the best.
It's a bit of a strange experience eating fast food in cardboard trays in a pub, but it worked. As it was Friday night they had a band on, which was very loud and overpowering so you could barely hear each other. Definitely not a bad thing to have live music but maybe the layout could be better to allow those who want to watch the band the space to do so, and a quieter dining area for those that want to enjoy their meal with a little less of a racket and without people standing around your table whilst you eat. It wouldn't have been as bad if we had begun eating before the band started and before the place filled up.
I'm surprised the taster evenings were ran over the weekend when there was so much else going on with the band etc. It could have been a lot more valuable to the business, if the time was spent attentively serving the guests and gaining their feedback during the meal. The staff were apologetic for the wait and they kindly took a couple of drinks off the bill.
I don't want to be too critical as this was their first night and I'm sure things will improve as time goes on, but after this experience, we...
Read moreWhere do I start. Went in to eat by myself and it was quiet. Around 2:30 on a Monday afternoon. The staff greeted me quickly and were so friendly, casual and engaging. Atmosphere was fun and great and the food came surprisingly quick.
WHEN I TELL YOU THIS BURGER WAS THE BEST BURGER YOU COULD IMAGINE. Right listen here. You see a burger on TV, social media or in an advert and you imagine how amazing it could be - you get it… and it’s not that good. It’s soggy, cold, dry or maybe it’s okay??? Just not what you dreamed of. THESE BURGERS WERE THOSE BURGERS YOU DREAM ABOUT DUDE. Genuinely perfect.
Hate it when a patty is tough and dry? Hungry boys was succulent. Hate it when a patty slides out the bun? My double burger with cheese was perfectly intact the whole time. Hate it when a pickle makes the burger too soggy or slides apart? Not a problem at hungry boys. Buns? Soft, toasted and perfect. Sauce? Perfectly smothered on my burger and perfectly tangy. Meal? Demolished. Stomach? Satisfied!
Don’t like dry wings? The wings I ordered were so juicy and SO incredibly sauced. The Korean BBQ flavour they used on the wings was mind blowing. Only wish I ordered their fries as well in hindsight because I can only guess they would’ve been UNREAL.
Give this place a shot I beg of you. Great service. Great food. Great times. Forgot to get her name but the lady who took my tray away once I was finished was a great host, good service and really friendly. The food was definitely worth the money. I’m genuinely going to fall asleep tonight dreaming of the next time I come back.
And I promise the staff haven’t paid me to write this review. 😂 I had some free time so went in to munch by myself, and was so impressed I’ve gone to write this review literally ASAP after...
Read moreMyself, my partner and a friend popped here last night for dinner, menu looks great, we put our order through, waited outside for about 40 mins my partner chased up the order to be told the tills went down and the order wasn’t processed even though we had paid. We then had to wait a further 20 mins, we asked if our order was definitely all in the takeaway bag, only to get to the car and find some of it missing. Popped back in to get the rest of our order and there was a lot of confusion and stress within staff members the tension was quite obvious which was off putting, eventually got all of our order but at this point our food was cold and if I’m honest for the money the quality wasn’t good, the chicken was soggy, chips were undercooked & our coleslaw was very warm. We paid over £40 and it just wasn’t worth it to us - if it wasn’t for the fact we were starving and already drove off I would’ve returned it for a refund. The waitress was apologetic enough about the mistake on the food, but unfortunately we wouldn’t...
