I've been commuting from this station for the last year and a half. I live on the Matawan side but have been parking on the Aberdeen side because there is a waitlist for a parking permit. (there are always at least 50 spots open every day) It is a nightmare getting out of the Aberdeen lot. There is one exit and it sometimes takes ten minutes to get out of the lot. This also causes commuters to run to their cars (to be first) and speed through the lot (to get out). Another problem is that when you are commuting to NY in the morning you are on the wrong side of the tracks and can get stuck with the gate down and it does not open to allow those waiting to cross. I have made complaints to NJ Transit but have never had a reply from them regarding this issue. The gates are controlled by NJ Transit Rail Operations (so I'm told) It can just be frustrating to stand and watch the train pull in and pull out. I know I just need to leave a few minutes earlier but there are some days you cut it too close (and you pay) UPDATE: 5.19.19 I wanted to add that this station is a good hub! 3 or 4 stops to Newark Penn Station and then onto NY Penn or Hoboken. (check the schedule) I recently got a pass to park in Matawan! YAY!! however they only issue the cost-savings pass in January! It is $140 a quarter until then. The yearly pass is $480. Summer passes are limited but available for $225 May-August. Aberdeen parking is prorated for the year and an annual pass is $440. Happy commuting . .. said with a...

Also, NYC-bound trains usually arrive à few minutes early. Just letting you know to arrive early to grab your tickets (or use NJT MyTix app on your smartphone) and be at the platform early. I've missed trains numerous times...
