Babba’s Bagel - Matawan — Restaurant in Aberdeen Township

Gave this place 4 stars because I don't believe Google helps give an accurate reflection of the business and I don't think it helps to just sling junk and mess up a hardworking persons rating. (In light of the business owner personally commenting and telling me that my taste was more in line with fast food, now you'll get one star.)

Criticism for me is really only based on one thing which also happens to be very important...the bagel.

I've been going to bagel stores and just trying to get plain bagels with butter or cream cheese just to see how the bagel itself is. I tried a plain, everything flagel and egg everything.These bagels aren't currently good. They don't taste good. They were also extremely small. I guess people like them as reflected from the ratings but its not a good tasting bagel. In bagel stars, this bagel was a 1.5-2.

Everything was pretty good until the last part of your response which suggested my taste was more in line with that of fast food. I stand by what I said, it's a bad tasting bagel. I wouldn't't get a Dunkin bagel not now not any time. You have 5-6 locations ? So what ? Dunkin Donuts has thousands , does that mean they make the best donuts and bagels? Great way to...

I used to go here when it was ABC BAGELS. Lovely staff and servicer. I’m in and out in under 5 minutes. Since the company/managerial change, the service and quality has gone down. Very inconsistent and mistakes that throw off my day. I come back out of desperation for coffee and food. I’m pregnant and need a quick pick me up before work.

Below are my experiences: I had eggshells on my bacon, egg, and cheese bagel my French toast bagel was sliced after an onion bagel and it had onion residues on my bagel that made my stomach turn. service today was rough. (5/28/25 at around 8:45 am) I order 2 bagels not toasted and just cut and 2 cream cheese filled bagels. The lady in the front could not identify any bagels and kept asking the other lady in the back who was very busy with orders. She basically stood around rolling her eyes while the other lady worked. Both were severely undertrained. An order that could be 5 minutes too over 10 mins.

Overall, I’m deterred to come back to this place. I miss the staff and management before who made me feel at home.

Quick update: my husband just told me that one of the bagels that was supposed to to be an egg everything was just a plain...

I am against anything that feels like racism or slavery and I rarely use the word slavery but I walked in a few minutes before closing today and as I asked Timmy if they can add avocado and olives , he walked to the lady working with him today June 27th 2024 when she called him and He said the customer was talking to me and she loudly replied just go go go go. He then came back to me to ask Agatha’s I wanted and I replied avocado but when she came and he told her she loudly again said no!!! To him. There no avocado then turned to me when I asked for onions and said what!!!? We are closing. I then looked at her and said, I am going to review this place because you’re in a rush and screaming at him for him attending to a customer. She then became sooooo nice and said that there was a misunderstanding and added everything that I wanted . This could’ve all been done without the aggression. Thank you Timmy for attention your customer and I’m so sorry that you hate deal with a hostile work environment which is definitely against the law.
