BUYER BEWARE! First off, clarification that this is NOT A VERIZON WIRELESS STORE despite it's outwardly appearance - it is an affiliated store/authorized seller called "Wireless Zone". Short Version - manager Sean tried to tell me a phone cost $210 over the retail price. He told me signing up for their insurance for 6 months was the only way to get a Verizon promo, which was not true. Then he "gave" me all this "free stuff" I said I didn't want. Then charged me a $200 "deposit" that was neither disclosed to me nor legitimate. I have serious doubts that the phone was even new. Longer Version - this place is a scam. This guy lied to my face numerous times and was then caught when I went home and called Verizon. I mistakenly took this place for a legitimate Verizon Wireless store, and was definitely led on to believe that throughout the interaction. Something seemed off - namely they were not able to access anything from my account with out me allowing it via a link. Verizon has a promotion right now that if you add a line you get a free iPhone 15. The retail price of that phone if purchased is $729.99. I sat in that store forever while this guy "added the new line" (something I unknowing could have just done myself on the app...) and then tells me its $262. I ask what that charge is and he says its "taxes and the activation fee". I (admittedly foolishly) pay it and leave. Then I'm mathing it out in the car and there is no way that's right. So as soon as I get home I look for my receipt and find he didn't give me one. So I look at my emailed receipt from Verizon and it says $0.00. I call Verizon and clarify the price of the phone and what charges I should have paid - which would have just been NJ state tax on the retail price of the phone - which was $729.99. When I called the manager of Wireless Zone to ask for an accounting of the charges (since he didn't give me a receipt) he told me there was a "down payment" of $200 on the phone and that the retail price was $940. I said that the retail price was $730 and he said there was a "special retail price" when it was sold in-store, which is false. When questioned he immediately started speaking over me and threatening me with a $75 "restocking fee" when I said I wanted to return the phone. When I said my husband and I would be coming down to the store to straighten things out he immediately back-pedaled and said he would refund me. When we were in the store he endlessly apologized, mostly to my husband, and said he was "rushed". I was the only customer there and it still took an hour so not sure why that would be. "Being rushed" also does not cause you to invent a fraudulent down payment on a free phone.
I don't want other people to be scammed here. Luckily, I was able to figure out what had happened and get it rectified, but I bet these guys do this shady stuff all the time and people are none the wiser. This guy literally tried to steal $200 out of my pocket two days before Christmas - knowing I was in there to buy a Christmas gift for my kid. I hope Santa brings him coal. Or better yet -...
Read moreDONT WASTE YOUR TIME! If the manager is not there, the staff cannot function on their own. If the manager is busy, you can expect to wait until the manager is done. The first time I went in I asked for a phone, the guy said it was in the safe in the back and had to wait for the manager. Maybe 20 minutes later he goes in the back, guess what, they did not have the phone. Had to wait for the manager once again to call over to another store to see if they had the phone. Waited about another 10 minutes. Finally, he told me that it was going to be picked up and they would have it today. Trust me, i am being generous on the wait times. Went in about 2:30 today there was only one person in the store at first helping another customer. (he was in the store the first time I went in sitting in the exact same spot). So no acknowledgement i was even in the store, waited about 1-2 min and the man that helped me yesterday walked in. I told him that i was there for my new phone. he asked my name and and asked if i received a call that it was in. I told him that i was there yesterday and that I was told that the phone was being picked up from another store yesterday and that it would be here today. He asked my cell number and went in the back and came out with an I phone and another phone. At the same time myself and the other worker said that those were not the phone, it was a samsung. the other guy who was not helping me yesterday even knew. He then said that the manager was not there so basically he could not help me. So sad to have this type of business in our community. I thought it would be easier to go there, but NOT! I will go back to Hazlet verizon and...
Read moreVisited the Verizon store on rt 34 in Aberdeen with the intention of upgrading my iPhone 12 to an iPhone 16pro. I had been reviewing the various offers online thru my Verizon account and had an idea of what the upgrade would mean in additional monthly cost. Based on my online search I expected my additional monthly cost to be less than $10.
I was helped by Sam at this location and I was surprised to find out that my additional cost would be approximately $35, way more than I expected. I asked what was the reason for such a large increase. No explanation was offered. I did not purchase the phone from this location.
I proceeded to call Verizon directly and my bottom line additional monthly cost was approximately $6, with the current promotions. My advice know before you go what your expected additional cost will be. This location is a franchise and it doesn’t appear that they adhere to the current promotions...
