I've read the reviews about this lil store, and I have been there myself, so all the bad reviews i read are all 1000% correct! He is way over priced for old games, he is trying to charge way above eBay prices! You could get an inbox mint game for the same price he's charging for used, beat up games! Plus last time I went in there, he ignored me, and the place smelled like cat piss! I saw a few cats around the area and he had a huge cat tree/ loft inside the building! Nothing is organized, and stuff is all over the place! The smell was sooo bad, I had to leave! I've delt with him in the past and he will not budge off his prices! I think someone has misled him about the value of those games, or he has a mental illness! No business man or collector worth his salt would run a place like he does! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME THERE, YOU WILL OVER PAY BIG TIME! and with all the cat urine in that small of a place, I guarantee you a lot of those games are ruined and don't even work anymore! I saw some 5 star reviews, this must be from either some of his friends or family, or people that have no clue about the prices of anything! or he paid someone to write good reviews for him! If I could he would get 0 stars! He thinks he has a gold mine, but In reality he has a money pit of his own doing and doesn't have a clue or does he want to have a clue to get out of it! He will more than likely die with...
Read moreThe prices a extremely more than ebay prices, and the locals here in Abilene may not even know they are getting ripped off. I travel the country with work. I have bought retro games from Florida to Oregon, and this is by far the biggest rip off I have ever seen. Please shop around online before you shop here. Prices range from medium-high to extremely high. I am a collector, and if it is a game I want, I don't mind paying ebay prices, but these are sometimes triple what you would normally pay. If you collect like I do, it really sucks that every game has permanent marker on it. Legend of Zelda(gold cart) on the NES he has marked for 69.99....Go to ebay and look it up (filter: items sold, auction) and it will not even be close to that price. I just looked it up. It goes from 17 to 25 dollars average price. I just say choose online, and if you are not happy with your online purchase ebay, and amazon will refund all your money. I normally don't complain, but people need to know that old games have raised in price but not as much as this guy is charging. Go to the flea market next door and get way...
Read moreThis is what happens when there's only one vintage game store in town. Prices are absolutely outrageous. You'd pay here for a loose cartridge game what you'd pay literally anywhere else for a full boxed title with the manuals included. Peripherals are almost always crappy third party ones (think madcatz, saitek, etc), and finding real controllers or cables is a big rarity. I bought a Sega Genesis from here once, and had to repair it myself. The DC power in port was loose and corroded. Had to open it up to clean and resolder it. Also, the interior is awful. There is no air conditioning, so you will probably die if you visit here in the summer. The floors are almost always dirty, and so are many of the things for sale. The few positives I can bring up is that at least the staff is pretty nice and this is actually a pretty decent place to buy used DVD's (despite it being called a game store, interestingly). If you're looking for vintage games, try Ebay or Craigslist. Hell, even Wild Bill's Pawn (yes, really) has better deals on better condition vintage...
