Spring 2020 I mailed in my vehicle tag renewal, but I never received it. So I went in January 2021 without an appointment and the clerk assisted me. In the system my vehicle was legal, so it was nice to finally get my tags even though it was seven months after my check was cashed.
This year, I just walked in and used the kiosk. It was fast and convenient, and even when calling the kiosk customer service, the representative was incredibly helpful.
It was my first time using the kiosk, so the $7 merchant fee to use my debit card was unexpected and reminded me of those stores that charge you a fee if you don't have a minimum $5 purchase, and the processing fee was also unexpected. We already pay enough in fees and not to mention taxes, but I guess that's worth not having to wait in line.
If you go in due to a delay in receiving an item, just know that it isn't their fault as they have no control over the delivery of mail.

They say it's faster with appointment only but it's NOT! Make everything available online and be done with the branches who can't keep up even with limited appointments. Not to mention who wants two options - 1. Schedule soonest available 3 months away or 2. Stalk the site all day (because despite what they say, there aren't only appointments easily released at 2 times a day - it's off and on all day) to get an appointment that's so soon, you won't have enough notice to make arrangements with your employer? Then you think logically if they schedule appointments every 10 minutes, I'll be in and out in 20 minutes tops. So maybe you get your boss to give you an hour. Well that doesn't work either. I was told if I return with what was needed, she would take me immediately.I returned only to be told by the same lady (teller #1) she would put me back in the system. I waited another 30 minutes. Why did she lie to me.? Another teller took me, only to tell me, I needed more information. Why didn’t the First Lady inform me of this? She said come back , and it will be completed. I guess she wasn’t trained properly. Now, I have to make another appointment because of her inexperience with your policies. Plus the fact she lied to me about taking me immediately when I returned. Very frustrating when you have to deal with people that treat their customers with lies and inexperience. I am 80 years old, I had to make several trips to get what was needed.
