Enterprise Rent-A-Car — Local services in Alameda

I had an average experience with my rental. First I had gone to an airport location where they didn't have any cars to downgrade. Yes downgrade, I didn't need such a large vehicle. I went to my neighborhood location and they were able to fulfill my need. However they had not filled the tank so I had to fill an empty tank to start my trip. 15 miles into my trip a tire warning came on. Enterprise suggested I bring the car back. I did since I wasn't too far out.It was a Nissan Versa. They had a Nissan Kick and told me it was an upgrade! Really?! I had no other choice. I was told by one employee that I'd be credited my fuel since I had an empty tank and filled it. The other employee was trying to say that the new vehicle had half so we were all good. My trip was uneventful but 2 hours behind now. On my return I had told the employee about the fuel issue, the same employee that checked me out, and he said he would take care if it. I received my bill and I was charged gas! Not what I expected. I don't have time to be going back and forth with the employee because he is following his policy with no control. However, I think the employees should make sure the vehicles have gas especially since the location is 2 blocks away from a gas station! Would I rent again? Probably yes. I initially reserved an economy vehicle for $74.88 per day, for an overnight trip to Pismo Beach, but decided to upgrade to a compact sized car advertised for $80.41. However, after signing up for Enterprise Plus membership at no extra charge, the fee was discounted to $72.18, and I received a fully loaded 2022 Toyota Camry SE which was a comfortable drive.

Their Alameda Branch Manager, Tyler Deitrick advised that if I wasn't able to return the car before their office closed at 5:00 PM the following evening, I could drop the keys off in their lock box and pay for the rental the next day. The next day I arrived when their office opened at 8:00 AM and was charged for only the two day rental fee.

The only concern I have is that although I had reserved the car a day before the rental period and asked for a home pick-up at 8:15 AM, I didn't get a ride to their branch until an hour later which delayed the start of our trip. Considering the increased morning traffic in the Bay Area, especially on Southbound 880 freeway, I'd suggest their Alameda branch open at 7:30 AM to get a jump on the morning traffic. Leaving a review because Enterprise emailed me asking to... My vehicle was not ready until over an hour after the time of reservation. I even stopped in a few days before to confirm that everything would be good to go.

The vehicle wasn't full of gas at pickup and I was told that I could either pay $4.80 a gallon or try to guesstimate filling up the car myself. When they emailed me the rental agreement I was charged over $40 off the bat for fuel.

UPDATE: After contacting Enterprise they told me that I signed up for a Fuel Service Fee, and despite what the agent told me; I had prepaid for a tank of gas, not what the agent explained to me. They then said they could not help me and I had to contact to branch location. Enterprise's website also told me they would have someone reach out after I took their CSAT survey where they told me to leave a Google review, that was a week ago and no one reached out.

I called the branch location twice and was put on hold both times. I hung up, called my credit card company and imitated a dispute for the difference in fuel. It took me less than a quarter of the time to solve this issue with a dispute than I had tried to spend solving this issue with...
