Beware of this store. If they make a mistake they will hold your purchase hostage until you fix their mistake.
I recently purchased a carved bear with a customizable sign while at the Holland America square location. The bear comes with free shipping. I paid for the bear, got a receipt that the transaction was completed, and was told I would receive my purchase in 3-4 weeks.
Fast forward almost a week later, I get a call from a random number saying they are with the store and an employee made a mistake requiring me to pay additional money to get my purchase. The company employee informed me that during checkout, their employee messed up the free shipping resulting in the bear to be discounted for the shipping price. I had no idea this occurred until I received the call and this was no fault of mine, it was the employee/cashiers mistake. The employee on the phone then told me if i wanted the bear I already purchased, I would need to send them an additional $36 otherwise they would cancel the order and refund me.
I explained to the employee on the phone that the mistake was on the cashier, not me, and I would not be sending additional money as a result of a random number calling me about a mistake the cashier made. I told the employee on the phone I expect to still get my purchased item since it was the cashiers fault, not mine, and they became hostile on the phone saying “what you think then this should be docked from the cashiers pay?” Business mistakes made by company employees are a loss to the company, not the customer. It is poor business practice to expect a customer to pay additional money to receive an item after they already completed the transaction, have a receipt of proof of purchase, and had left Alaska and been home for almost a week.
I then asked the employee to speak to a manager and he said no. After I pushed more, he changed it to “no one else is here” and provided me with an email address.
Later that day I emailed the company explaining the situation and asking for a supervisor to call me. Later that night, after getting out of the shower, I checked my Phone and had a missed call from the same person who called me previously. No voicemail was left and the missed call was immediately followed by a text stating I was refunded and my order was cancelled. I immediately texted back asking if a supervisor was going to contact me. The next day I received another text blaming me for missing the call stating he had already discussed it with me the day prior. I never was allowed to speak with a supervisor. I dont recommend this business. If you purchase something, make sure you leave with it immediately because if they make a mistake you will be blamed and your purchase will be held ransom until you provide additional money.
Employee errors are commonly the responsibility of the business not the customer. If you cant train your employees correctly thats on you not the customer. At least I got my Money back, I wouldnt want to patronize a business with such rude employees and bad...
Read moreIf someone is able to post their number, I'd like to contact the store owner. I purchased a knife worth $650. The guy who was running the store at the time told me they would be able to ship it to me with no worries. Its been well over 3 and a half weeks with me checking the USPS receipt tracking number to see if it was ever shipped but it keeps on saying it was never made. He told me that making the knife would take atleast 2 days tops and that it would arrive within a week. Beyond annoyed that I have to post this out in the open for...
Read moreThis is where they have the real made in Alaska stuff, and they have it in abundance. Worth visiting even if not shopping, and definitely one of the few places to go when cruisetouring and want the real art/pieces. Also the shopkeep, Glen I think, was welcoming and helpful, making sure I left happy with my selection, and I sure...
