This was a mixed experience for me, so let me explain. I had an overall fun experience despite the shortcomings of this place. But let me explain why I say mixed. We had a young family in our group with a daughter roughly aged 11. She became hesitant to go down the first run and eventually refused. This was actually not the problem, but a symptom. The course is not very well designed for first-timers. In many other courses I have visited, there is a warm-up run which is very short near the base. This gives participants a chance to gain trust in their gear by understanding how it feels to use it in it in a low danger way. Unfortunately, this course has no such thing. Instead, the first run is relatively intimidating. The platform space is high and simply way too small for a party of 9 people plus 2 guides. There is no railing and nowhere obvious to grip, so everybody is rightly aftaid of slipping off the edge. You wouldn't die if this happened because you are harnessed into the cables, but the lead length is long. If you slipped, you could suffer a nasty scrape and potentially a broken bone by the contact with the wooden edge. So I guess I am trying to say I totally see where this young girls fear came from. This was a design problem, not her problem. For some people, this won't be an issue, and my experience was good despite the shaky start. But I have experienced many better course designs. The views were nice and the weather was great during our visit. We had one guide I loved and one that was not my favorite, so mixed...
Read moreMy family and I went to Denali for a few days and on our last day decided to either go rafting or zip lining. We decided to go zipping. I have never done it before but my husband and daughter wanted to go so I went with the majority. 😆 booking was super easy. The gal at the counter was so friendly and checked us in. Then a driver met us outside. It was awkward on the drive up to Healy since she didn’t have any real conversation with us so we just sat in the van in silence. We were worried that our experience would be boring if she was our guide. BUT when we got to our destination, Kyle and Anna were super amazing guides! They made the whole experience a memorable one. They are both outgoing and knew what they were doing. Safety was their priority before the fun. I am not keen on heights and was so scared to go up the tower and then down the first line. I don’t know how I ended up being first to go and it took me a while to mentally be ready but the pressure of everyone behind me sent me down. “Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!” I made it! It kept getting easier though and by the seventh one I was landing like a pro! 😄 We all had fun. The lines were different in heights which made it so fun and the scenery was beautiful. We enjoyed the last line which was a race. Oh and it was also Kyle’s Bday which made it a day to remember. Anna and Kyle really are the guides you want on your tour. Outgoing, professional, and love what they do! I highly recommend that you put Denali Park Zipline on your bucket list...
Read moreWe're on our 7th day of 14 in Alaska and I had a feeling this would be my daughter's highlight of the trip. She was definitely grinning from ear to ear for the 3 hour experience that John our shuttle driver, and the guides Noah and Sean took us on.
I had kept this leg of the journey a surprise up until we checked in and she read the name on the building and after that, she was stoked!
Allright, so heres the run down: you check in at the office, shuttle up the rd about 15 minutes and then your guides drive you up to the course in 6 seater side by sides. We were with a party of 3 and we were a party of two. So 7 people (including Sean and Noah) rolled up in two side by sides and then we got harnessed up, instructed on what to do and not to do and then our journey began!
It's slick. I've been on a zipline canopy tour before (Timberline Adventures in Coeur D'Alene, ID) but didnt really know what to expect from this one. It equalled or exceeded all my expectations, I think I like this courses rope bridges and layout more. We loved every minute of it and the guides are hilarious and likeable as actual people, not just actors doing their job. We actually saw John in the shuttle van after the tour when we were back in Healy where we had eaten dinner and were topping up our gas tank and pulled up beside him, got his attention and had a laugh.
Good tour y'all! Hope to see you again in...
