I learned about Denali Jeep Excursions from a local Alaskan resident. So glad I met this person because I wasn’t aware of Denali Jeep Excursions. Our tour guides were Nancy and Abby. They were great!
I rode with Abby. She was very personable and knowledgeable. I was quite surprised that she was only on the job for a month. Wow! I would’ve thought that she was on the job for a year or two. She also drove the jeep safely and was very aware of her surroundings.
You may book online at Denali Jeep Excursions website. They’re offering May discounts so that was helpful. You may flinch at the price but don’t! Just do it! It’s so worth it. They give you your money’s worth for a full four hours of your time. They offer a morning adventure at 6:30 am for all you early birds and an evening adventure at 6:30 pm. I chose the evening adventure.
Also, they shuttle you from either their main office in the heart of the Denali village or one of the cruise ship hotels to a location about 10-15 minutes south to where the jeeps are parked. They also have you sign a safety waiver. I was impressed with how both Nancy and Abby practiced safety.
The views on the Denali Highway are stunning! Gasoline Lake was probably my favorite. I enjoyed the mirror like surface of the lake. I would do this all over again! Great job ladies!

Read moreUnfortunately, our worst tour of our entire trip. Expected to see the view, enjoy the scenery and maybe see some animals. Instead it was about driving jeeps, too fast for conditions, so you had to concentrate on where the road was (lots of dust from all the jeeps going so fast on dirt roads). You could only enjoy the scenery on the stops (3 of them).
We asked for them to slow down and were scolded to keep up. They started the tour with this is your tour, but then told to keep up. The speeds and dust (kicked up), would for sure keep any wildlife away, so needless to say, we did not see any. Which was never promised and not the reason for this review. If you want to drive a jeep, then this is the tour for you. If you want to see Alaska, stay away.
Our Guide, Tommy, talked about time on a fishing boat and other things unrelated to the tour. We should have gone slower and they should have adapted to the guests. If time is a concern, shorten the miles covered. On the highway going back to the drop location, we were speeding and again told to keep up. The entire tour felt like they were in a rush to finish. Not enjoyable. Do...
Read moreAwful! Not complaining about dust. It is expected in dry weather. But, speeding down a dirt road going 50 mph eating the dust of the Jeeps in front of you is not fun. You have very low visibility due to the dust created by others as we all speed down the road. The lead guide would not stop to see a moose on the side of the road. One of the other guests announced on the CB there was a moose. The tour guide in the back says, "Hey, aren't we going to stop for the moose?" The guide in the back did stop, since he had guests in his jeep due to their jeep breaking down on the side of the road. But, the lead guide kept going as fast as he could! At one point we were doing 55 mph in a 40 mph zone. This is on a paved portion on the way back to the highway. So very disappointed! It was a very stressful tour, my jeep kept sliding (traction light coming on). I was a basket case at the end! Didn't realize we signed up for a race, I thought we were there for the views and wildlife. When we did stop racing down the dirt road, the views...
