I was walking in this gym, and was approached by a female employee, or manager? She said āmay I help you?ā I was very confused. I told her I was there to get a 2 week infrared sauna pass. I didnāt want to continue overpaying at wellness centers and they had a good deal. She told me I canāt wear the shoes I was wearing on the purple mats, and that was fine. She then continued to question me about filling in the paperwork and signing the forms, and I made it clear that I had no idea what she was talking about. Further into our conversation, I realized she was accusing me of sneaking in/not being a member. I informed her I was a member, but still received no apology. I am working in Alaska temporarily, and Iāve been going to another gym this past month called The Alaska Club for Women which is, undoubtably more āupscaleā than any Anytime Fitness in the country, and they have never accused/suspected me of being somewhere I wasnāt supposed to be. Theyāve never had a problem with the way I was dressed. I am a year-long paying customer who works really hard, and I come to these gyms to unwind. I am uncomfortable with how she treated me and approached me with an accusatory tone when I was minding my own business. And if there was a problem with my shoes there is a better way to tell someone. I later told this story to some friends and they said that I was being profiled and that her comments were unnecessarily rude (I am neurodivergent so I have a hard time reading situations sometimes..) Anyways, I am going to continue going to the Alaska Club instead. The extra star is for Chris who was really kind, helpful and has amazing customer service skills. I wish this wasnāt the only Anytime Fitness in Anchorage but thankfully thereās other gyms. I will not be back somewhere I donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI almost forgot about this whole ordeal till 2 things came up very recently.
Its been about almost 3/4 years since I never returned to this gym. It begins with me referring my GF to the gym, she then referred her family we loved it at first it was small close to home and exactly what we were looking for. She then wanted to take on a more fitness lifestyle and work with a trainer.
This trainer at first starts everything normal, training sessions go good. Later down the line starts asking her to go to different yoga sessions, more private sessions. Says things about her butt and that she should send him videos so he can āsee whats going on a little betterā all red flags from a trainer. Later it gets worst starts saying inappropriate things about her figure, throws in things about how he wish he could be her bf at times and just very very non appropriate things that has to do with fitness, took her a while to tell me whats going on and I make her file a complaint. What do you know nothing is done he worked there for years nothing happen. Till recently we get an email about our experience with this trainer and what happened. Well took you about 4 years for something to happen. So from that day we sent the complaint i will not pay your business a dime, i could care less for a collections debt that keep calling me asking to pay.
(Gym it self was still great just feel like i need to add this in here hate bashing local businessā)
Weāve moved on to a more family friendly gym that she can freely work out in.
Best of luck,
But we will...
Ā Ā Ā Read more9/1/2021 Things settled down in the world. Anytime fitness had a change in management. My previous review was in poor and spiteful taste. Anytime fitness is a great and clean gym. It has a plethora of equipment and free weights to use along with personal training if you need it. Management is very friendly and will do just about anything to help you out. I personally like it because even at around 5pm it is not crazy busy. I never ran into the issue of having to fight over equipment and everyone cleans off the equipment after use. I recommended the gym to all my friends and managed to get 2 of them to try it out for a week or so. They had no complaints. I plan to continue going to Anytime Fitness for a very long time!
Their personal trainer Kristy will keep bugging you about masks when your mask is on correctly and over your nose. She has nothing better to do. She never takes out the overflowing trash cans or replaces the paper tower for wiping equipment down. Instead she runs around the gym looking busy hounding about masks. It makes me want to stop going to this gym period. The rest of the gym is great just she annoyed me just enough to leave...
