One of our favorite sweet little hole-in-the-wall restaurants has lost it's quaint charm and friendly service. After always recommending Little Italy Restaurant for out of State guests through the years, I won't now. Went out with my husband for dinner thinking it would have a relaxed, friendly environment. Walked in and was immediately asked if we had a reservation snidely, the two hosts then nervously looked for a place, walked back to the bar area and said we could sit there. We thought, sure how bad could it be? Well, we found out. We became uncomfortable guests with unfriendly, blasé service. The bartender tended to us in a minimal way (sans personality or joy). Many details in the interaction for ordering were as if they were the wrong choices. I happen to unkowingly order a Greek white wine from the drink menu that was apparently unavailable beyond what is in stock at the bar. He looks quite concerned and alarmed by my choice and informs me that it is the LAST Glass of it EVER. Like it needed to be preserved for a more valuable customer. Feeling daunted by my choice and his reaction, I attempted to change my order, but he decided maybe I was ok to serve it to. My husband made sure he brought us dinner menus by reminding him. Once the bartender decided he was ready to take our order he did so. We Then proceeded to order our food, I ordered a house salad after which he asks, "What are you having for dinner?" So feeling pressured I said, "Spanikopita", for which he answered, "Nope, we are all out." So, I actually was fine with that and said. "Oh no problem, I will share my husband's meal and the saganaki." As we sat waiting it became apparant the bartender was the boss of all there! Wasn't too nice to other workers either. 'Nere a smile or a laugh in that place, all serious business with pre-tasting different mixed drinks before serving, bartender disagreements as to mixology, servers wiping down glassware and checking for any smears. The minute your plate was done it was taken away. No smiles, no pleasentries, no congeniality. Timing of presentation was a bit of a challenge as well. I tried to eat my salad slowly so that when my husbands food arrived we were actually eating dinner together. Bottom line, the atmosphere sucked, the service sucked, the...
Read moreOrdered $65 worth of pasta to a hotel. Hour and a half later they delivered which is OK I understand deliveries take time. Problem is they delivered with no napkins nor utensils. It’s very hard to eat pasta with your fingers. They knew it was to a hotel I gave them the name and the room number. I called them within 30 seconds trying to catch the delivery driver before he left the premises, after tipping him $10, and Their response was they do not deliver food with utensils or napkins whether it’s being delivered to a hotel or not! They did offer to “send the driver out to look for someplace to get utensils for us and deliver so we could eat it or refund the food and pick it up” we Did not want to start all over again and wait another hour for utensils or order from a different restaurant in town, as we were hungry! We were very lucky that our hotel (that has no restaurant in it) was able to give us a couple “sporks”with a cheesy napkin and a salt and pepper packet :-). Just want to make sure that anybody that calls for delivery from Little Italy while staying at a hotel, needs to be aware that they will bring you pasta but will not give you utensils nor napkin to eat it with and might possibly act like you’re out of line for expecting it, as they did to me ...
Read moreWe celebrated our daughter's birthday at this restaurant last week, and we had an incredible experience. The menu offers an impressive selection of both Greek and Italian dishes, all of which we found to be amazing. Husband ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and thoroughly enjoyed it. I decided to try the Eggplant Parmigiana, and it was absolutely delicious. The kids shared a plate of spaghetti with di'avolo, which they also loved.
To start our meal, we ordered dolmathes and cheese bread as appetizers. Both were flavorful and a great way to kick off the dining experience. As for dessert, we couldn't resist trying the Greek dessert called Ekmeck, which was truly amazing. Additionally, we indulged in the tiramisu, which was expertly prepared with thin pieces of chocolate layered within. It was an absolute delight.
Overall, our visit was a memorable one, thanks to the exceptional Greek and Italian options on the menu. The dishes we tried were all incredibly tasty, and the desserts were the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. We highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or simply for a delightful...
