We called Melanie towards the end of an extensive home remodel, to ask for help making some cushions and throw pillows for several new built-in nooks in our kitchen and stairway. She was fast to respond to our inquiry, an excellent listener, and quickly understood our preference for colors and style. The cushions are so beautiful and cozy, and she brought a good, wide selection of fabrics along to our house. She also ended up making curtains and Roman shades for our master bedroom and living room that we love and appreciate every day, as well as roller blinds for six other rooms in the house. She guided us in picking some light-filtering shades for our kitchen which now makes a sunny corner much more comfortable on really hot days. She has a great sense of humor and energy for the project! When one of the new Roman shades was stained by water damage from the power-washing of our house painter, she quickly helped us with a referral to a "green" dry cleaner close by. I visited my kids during their Spring Break. My daughter got a little job at Hal's Office Coffee shop. She wanted to show me her new place of employment. I hadn't been to Albany in over 10 years! I immediately vibed with the little town. After my daughter picked up some coffee, I knew I wanted to walk around. I was instantly drawn to Umami. What stunning artifacts.
