Stoped by the shop to buy by son his 1st record player on a Saturday. Found a unit and asked the counter if they could test it. They said they could not test the unit but vouched that it worked and would be happy to refund if the unit was not working as long as it was retuned by the following Tuesday.
Sure enough the unit did not work even tested it on 2 different receivers. When my son and I walked it Tuesday to return the unit the first thing I noticed was the change in the cashiers demeanor. There was no longer any warm greeting or playful conversation. The attendant was immediately upset at seeing our return. I explained the issue and the attendant took the turntable behind the counter (which is also behind plexiglass) broke a piece as she was handling the unit in frustration and asked for a receipt. A receipt that was never issued hence my request to test the unit. But because of the price and the insistence that there would be no issue with a return (not to mention my son’s excitement) I decided to purchase.
At this point not only did they not honor their word for the return which I asked could be in exchange for store credit, but the attendant with a wry smile also refused to give back the turntable from behind the plexiglass. I can only assume that this is a general practice for the store and urge any consumer to beware the deceptive store. I will be filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General’s office....
Read moreThoughts about some of posts below. I am a vendor here at Antiques & Things so admittedly mine are not totally unbiased comments. • Several have posted that A&T vendors do not offer any discounts. Most vendors will consider offers on any item whose original price is over $30. Someone at the front counter can help you negotiate this. • It is unfortunate that a customer got the impression that the store is anti-LGBTQ. Wow. Sorry you had this impression, but really the store is very LGBTQ friendly! • To those complaining about the heat or cold. Keeping this large, old building comfortable is a challenge. All I can say is that the management does its best to address heating and cooling issues as quickly as possible. We are proud that this vintage space, with its original wood flooring and high ceilings, can still offer Albuquerque an enjoyable retail experience. I hope that all, whether you had a less than stellar experience or a great one, will come back to shop and spend time at Antiques & Things. We look forward...
Read moreIt's like thousands and thousands of antique stores across the country. Which is to say it's got some decent stuff and a whole bunch of junk no one is ever going to buy, but the fact that they won't negotiate over any prices is tacky and super frustrating. Recently I picked up a whole bunch of low tier records, like 15 of them, and they wouldn't even drop total price down the price by $6. And they were surly AF about it. It just makes the whole experience negative and unsavory. I don't need to come to a dusty spot like this, and I have no desire to come back. Go to Charlie's, go to Zombie, heck go on ebay, all of those sellers will work with music lovers to create deals and...
