Exceptional. I have lived in Albuquerque for six months and I eat out at least once or twice per week. This is by far the best restaurant experience yet.
I am not all about the starch, like many Thai restaurant diners. I love very-spicy stir-fry. I ordered a dish with chicken and an assortment of veg, Thai hot. The veg were fresh and crisp, with flavorful herbs and bright chili flavor. The chicken was tender cuts that melted in my mouth. Everything was cooked to perfection. As is expected with Thai stir-fry, the sauce was rich without being too greasy or too salty. If you cook healthy balanced meals at home you will be impressed by the quality of ingredients and blown away by the skill with which they are prepared. Thai hot was very hot and flavors were well balanced, as it should be (I have found true “Thai hot” tough to find in Albuquerque until now). Chili was very hot without being astringent, theses are high quality peppers. I’m sure they offer mild and everything in-between, but if you love heat you will be in heaven.
Price was very fair, about $12 for a dinner-hour portion large enough for two (or enough to eat a meal and take home an equal portion to enjoy tomorrow). When I say portion is large enough for two, I mean the core dish; you get a generous portion of meat and veg, not just a huge pile of rice like some others in this area.
They also have beer, which so many small affordable Albuquerque restaurants lack. Menu was small but selection was good and obviously curated by a knowledgeable person. I ordered a local IPA in a 16 oz can and paid $5, which is a very fair price. Beer was fresh and they gave me a clean glass to pour it into, without needing to ask.
Decor was tasteful and casual and tables were not packed too close together. Very comfortable. The small dining room was crowded at 630 on a Thursday, but tables turned quickly and it was easy to get a table with only a short wait. Waiter was efficient, knew the menu well, and food was served fast. Neighborhood is the edge of a “bad,” area, but patrons were mostly young professionals. Parking was plentiful and seemed safe near the restaurant.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Albuquerque and far beyond the typical disappointments I’ve found in the Nob Hill area. I can’t wait to return and try more from their menu. I was swimming in endorphins for over an hour after I left due to the pure pleasure of this food and those amazing...
Read moreNot only I had a lot of DIARRHEA after eating here, the OWNER of the store was very rude, and his excuse for being rude was due to being very busy. If you are that busy every single day, maybe conside getting more employees or simply don't take any more orders over the phone while your restaurant is full and you only have ONE college kid doing everything. Being too busy is not an excuse to abuse everyone.
Also, charging extra here and there for things that you offer, as if they were an option, without a warning, is a bit petty. For example, asking the spicy level of your order but charging for hot sauce when asked to be on the side.
The owner had a strange demeanor, not of a busy successful businessman, but someone with some psych issues.
I saw a customer complain (I was next to the owner) and I clearly heard him say "That's because YOU ARE SO B1TC#Y," right at her face. I was shocked. Later the owner claimed that he said that they were "busy," of course he lied. How can you claim that "you" sounds like "we?" I was next to him, I heard him very clearly.
The owner is not one of those newcomers, hard working immigrants, he is fluent in English and even has the audacity to talk trash about Albuquerque and Central Ave (when it was his choice to be there). He even knows how to manipulate and twist people's words to try to win arguments, arguments with customers that are GIVING HIM MONEY. I couldn't believe my eyes and how CUNNING he was to customers.
To the owner: you try to pull a KEN on the customers that give you money. I mean, we give you a chance to conduct a business here, and you talk and treat people that give you MONEY this way? Also your food is not all that, I had better in Abq!
There are tons of other great restaurants out there that truly deserve our business....
Read moreThis is an awful, dirty restaurant. I’ve tried it twice now, about a year apart, in hopes that the first time was just a bad night for them. It was not.
The restaurant is open seating, but there are no signs telling patrons this, so people will come in and stand around, like we did, until the single server notices them and tells them they can grab a seat anywhere.
There are six tables that seat four people and one table that seats two. There are also four barstools along the bar for a total of thirty seats. There are no stairs into the venue so patrons in wheelchairs or with mobility issues will be fine accessibility-wise.
The menus were sticky, the tables were sticky, our glasses were dirty with lipstick that hadn’t been fully washed off, and the place had an overall grimy feel.
I had the yellow curry fried rice, which was somehow both sour and extremely bland. The curry spice was what tasted sour; I haven’t had any like it before and was thinking perhaps the spice went bad. The entree as a whole was very unappetizing. My companion ordered the pineapple fried rice and said he’d give his 1 star because it was extremely bland as well. The sodas we ordered were passed to us in a can with a cup of ice.
The restaurant had one server for the dining room who was also in charge of busing the tables and coordinating to-go orders. He was friendly, but the owners had done a disservice by only having one staff up front, as he couldn’t keep the place clean.
Having tried this place twice, I’m confident in saying I...
