I recently joined the 9 to 10am swim/aerobics class. On Friday morning , June 14, our instructor was Zion. He was absolutely terrific. He began and ended our class session with stretching exercises. He included jumping jacks at each lap of our jog around the pool, which was three laps. This was the first time that I actually felt I had used every muscle in my body, and the stretch exercises helped with the slight soreness over the weekend. Zion did an exceptional job!!! Not too fast and not to slow...not overly strenuous, nor too easy on us. I sure wish he was a regular teacher!!! The other teachers are good, but rarely include stretching, or jumping jacks. All in all, these classes are excellent for everyone of every age, they are not only good for our health, but are really fun as well. Someone needs to talk to Zion about staying on as a regular teacher!!! ADD: Recently had an instructor named David...EXCELLENT job!! He had us do all of our stretches and upper body routines. I was slightly sore for the next 3 days, a sign of a great workout! Then, on Wednesday the 26th, we had Adri...she is a terrific instructor. She had us work our lower leg muscles. She also listened to several people who suggested exercises...she, David and Zion should be kept on as regular instructors! I have lost 6 pounds in the past 4 weeks since attending classes and I feel really energetic!!! Great classes!!! We have another instructor named Tristen...truly a great workout can be obtained by attending Tristen's classes!!! He is awesome!! A BIG thanks to West Mesa Aquatic Center for providing great instructors for their aquatic...
Read moreBeen lap swimming here off and on since the fall. Price is great. Pool is clean, temperature just right, and I usually have to either share a lane with just one person or have a lane all to myself. The women’s locker room is pretty shabby, and I’m not sure they have the staffing to clean it frequently enough, but I don’t think it’s that bad.
In scanning other reviews, I noticed a lot of parents complaining about being turned away b/c the pool doesn’t accept their kids’ swim trunks. Unfortunately I think it’s common problem. Lots of stores sell DriFit clothes right by swimsuits, and it’s easy to see why people confuse the two. They often end up on sales racks together. DriFit shorts also usually have lining and often have drawstrings. They look just like swimsuits but the material is different. Swimsuits should be mostly, if not 100%, nylon (or specifically labeled chlorine-resistant polyester). It’s a sanitary issue. - 1. DriFit clothes are designed to be super comfortable so people tend to wear them a lot & pools don’t want people swimming in everyday clothes because they carry a lot of germs 2. Some fabrics can affect pool chemistry (or be affected by it). So folks, check the labels on your kids “swimwear”. If your kids’ swim trunks are CLEAN and 100% nylon - or mostly nylon- they should be good to go and you have a right to protest if pool staff says otherwise. If their tags say DriFit or something other than nylon then they aren’t really meant to be swimwear for pools. (Note:there are other issues to consider if your kid’s still...
Read moreGreat place for birthday parties! They don't charge you for the party! Which really saves you money!! 🤑🤑🤑 I mean they send you a list of restrictions for food and types of decorations you can take in (sent to your email after you book the party) BUT this option for your kids birthday parties really lowers the cost!! They also boast a slide, that is super fun and even relaxing depending on your mood! 😁😂😁 They have a diving tank complete with diving boards and they even have a water aerobics class each day of the week..which is a fun way to squeeze in morning workouts! 💪🤗🖖🤔 The instructor is very courteous but could work on being more enthusiastic..haha..heard alot of complaints stating that the "main" instructor that is now going to school and can't instruct the class anymore was way better than the current instructors! Haha! 😂 I still had fun! All my fellow water exercisers were mostly older women but really sweet and fun to talk to! They have this really artistically beautiful mural in the hall from the showers to The pool too..go check it out!! 🙃 The only two draw-backs of West Mesa Aquatic Center is that they do not have lockers to protect your valuables and their showers are like getting hosed by a firhose they're so high pressured!💢🚿💢 Which is the only reason why I'm taking a 🌟 away...but other than that it's a super duper place to take your kids and it's a very friendly place to go workout!...
