Do not do business with this "game store". They attempted to buy a game from my eBay store. They wanted me to ship the game directly to one of their customers without any of my info / packing slip. Their customer paid $45 for a game that Retrovgames tried to buy from me for $20 on eBay. A $25 markup for them being nothing more than being some useless middleman.
It would have been bad enough if they had the game shipped to their store and then resold it to some poor unsuspecting buyer for a ridiculous markup and lied about cleaning/refurbishing (the DKOldies business model). I can't control what they do with the game once it is in their possession, and I guess people are foolish enough for fall for the con. However, what Retrovgames does is worse. This store sells games they never have in their possession, and then they try to find a copy after the purchase is made, while making that seller do all the work. The fact that they have "Only X left in stock" on their website is a joke, and proves that their whole business model is all smoke and mirrors.
This is what they have in the description for my game on their website-
"The game is fully tested & guaranteed to work. It's the cartridge / disc only unless otherwise specified. It's the authentic cartridge. If you would like to know before purchasing, please contact our customer service. This game cartridge Cleaned Tested and Guaranteed to Work!"
How would they know it's clean, tested, or authentic? They never touched it. This is why they have so many complaints about poor quality control from customers on here. I take good care of my stuff and I make sure everything is packaged perfectly, which you can't say about every other person shipping out stuff on eBay. Especially when the employees at Retrovgames probably try to focus on the cheapest eBay listings to maximize their profit for doing nothing.
I repeat. Do NOT do business with these scumbags. And when they eventually change their name AGAIN (They used to be Retrolio) because too many people find out what a scam they are, don't do business with their new company either.
Update in response to the Retro vGames reply:
Hi Retro vGames team. I have added screenshots which prove my claims for your convenience, along with a small fraction of the negative feedback on the Retrovgames eBay account which backs me up. What exactly are we looking for between those lines?
Maybe you should read the room, or “ready the room” as you might say based on your reply. This isn’t a matter of a few people trying to take down your legitimate small business because they have nothing better to do. 84 complaints in 3 years with BBB. 80% of your reviews on TrustPilot are 1 star. 126 1-star reviews on Yelp out of 158, which is 79.7%. That is abysmal. I am not the only one accusing you of drop shipping via eBay, and the horrible reviews from your unsuspecting customers that received broken consoles, scratched up games, the wrong items, or horrendous shipping times (because you’re a middle man for random eBayers and never actually touch the contents of the orders) are further evidence.
If your owner devoted a fraction of the effort his employees spent defending Retrovgames online to actually building a legitimate store with good quality control and customer service, then we wouldn’t be here. But I’m sure there is a lot less money in that, so keep speed running your way to another...
Read moreI don't normally leave negative reviews but I was just so disappointed with everything I had to take the time to write a review.
I purchased a refurbished original xbox kit (4 controllers, cables, console, 1 game) . They said the xbox would have some wear and tear but nothing major and everything functions as it should.
It arrives timely, but pulling the console out of the box it had severe scrapes/scuffs on it outside of the xbox and just felt off touching it (plastic loose like the console had been opened 20 times already). Went to try the cables and they provided the wrong power cable.
I email them the issue with the power cable and just told them I wanted to return it because I was not expecting the xbox to look so ruff(and before I had even got to test it out). They kept trying to offer me small partial refund and after a few back and forth emails I finally agreed and gave in for the small refund and but still needed the correct power cable.
They ended up sending me another wrong power cable that was the exact one as the first wrong one. I finally got the correct power cable after 3 months from my original purchase.
Finally Turn on the xbox for the first time and the xbox is so loud I have to turn the tv volume up. Sounds like a playing card on a bicycle spoke or something. Also the disk tray barely is hanging on (so loose and one side broken) and has to be helped to open and close. I have never been so disappointed in an online order before in my life, I regret not sticking with my gut, refusing the partial refund and just returning it
I understand running a small business like this is hard, especially when dealing with stuff that is used and no longer in production. But the terrible quality of the xbox was not mentioned in the listing and getting me wrong power cables from the beginning and me not being able to test my purchase for 3 months is insane.
Also 2 controllers I had received had to be returned because they did not work properly from the moment I first tried them (also the off brand ones in the kit are so cheap it almost pointless to play with them, get the Original xbox controllers for a good game experience) *The quality control based on my experience is at a very low spot and I don't see this business lasting if this is the quality control they have.I truly hope they can turn things around because Im sure some people there have a passion for vintage gaming and games.
Don't make the same mistake I did and take partial refunds. If your gut feeling is telling you to return your order, do it.
I hate leaving this review but I want others to know my experience and hopefully it will help you make a more...
Read moreBUYER BEWARE Like so many others have said, wished I would have looked into this more before I purchased. My 12 year old son asked for a Game Boy Color for Christmas. My order wasn't shipped for 3 days after placing my order. Finally on Christmas Eve tracking shows it being at my local post office. Thankful for a small town and knowing people. i Was able to get my package that day instead of having to wait until after Christmas and have to try and explain to my son why Santa didn't stop. I was so excited to have the package in my hands, only to open it and discover that it was just the Game Boy unit itself, NO GAMES that I had ordered at the same time. The unit was a "combo" deal, unit and a game for X amount of dollars. And then I also ordered another game. I was furious, Christmas Even and no games. No where does it say anything about things shipping seperately or things coming from eBay sellers. Contacted customer support only to be told that the games were shipping seperately. But, they should, should be here by January 2nd. They games finally trickeled in from various eBay sellers. So, when they say they have warehouses all across the states, it's eBay sellers. Finally after having several angry messages back and forth, they offered to refund my shipping since I paid extra for "expedited shipping," USPS Ground /Advantage, which was a joke in it's own. But, wouldn't refund the shipping cost until I received the games?? So, at this point I'm doubtful I'll get my money back. Either way, lesson learned. Save yourself some hassel, shop elsewhere. Thankfully we found a wonderful man locally that we will do any future shopping with. If it wasn't for him, on Christmas Day, let us shop games and got several games for way less than anything I could have purchased online for one price. He is a Santa in his own right, by helping make my son's only Christmas...
