Greys River Sports — Local services in Alpine

I had emailed Josh a week in advance to reserve paddle boards. I let him know that we were local and we would be more than accommodating with picking up and dropping off boards if someone else wanted to rent them, still, of course, paying full price. We showed up to a line full of people. There were 2 guys behind the till. He got to us and because we didn't want a fishing license, he left. Ok, maybe he was just helping for a minute. When we got to the register, Josh didn't have a reservation for us. He eventually found some boards so after we paid, more people came in and Josh told us to wait. Wait, some more? We waited for over 30 minutes while Josh continued to help other people. I finally said, "hey, can we start loading these?!" Everyone left while we were loading and Josh came out to hand us a paddle. Ya know, if this is the way we get treated, we'll be happy to go somewhere else. We thought we were helping the small local guy out. And it's people like you who give the small businesses a bad name. There was better ways to handle that situation and I wished he would have treated us like we were paying...

I reserved a raft and trailer for a family reunion. We needed it in August and I contacted the company in April and reserved it. Josh told me I didn’t need to worry about a deposit. He would save it for me. As I was preparing for our reunion, I looked at the reviews on Gray Rivers Sports yesterday and noticed someone had an issue with their reservation “not being found.” I was worried that may happen to us today. Sure enough, we arrived at their shop this morning at 9am when they opened (they didn’t arrive until 9:30) with our family ready to go and they have ZERO reservations for us. No raft. No trailer. And despite us having it all documented in an email, they basically said SOL because all their trailers and rafts were already reserved for the day. Super disappointed in...

Very cool and helpful rental, and fishing shop. I set up my rental a week before my trip, just to ensure it was there. But, they appeared to have ample gear. The rental process was easy and fast. And, it included everything I would need. The staff were great! They even helped me to maneuver and strap in my paddleboard around my 5th- wheel hitch in the bed of my truck. That's not an easy task. 😂 I forgot my straps at home, and thankfully they had some. In addition to that, the staff were helpful at finding some fun local areas for me to go, and we found the perfect spot. Overall I had a great experience and a wonderful day, and much of that was due to the staff. Thanks GRS. I'll definitely be a return...
