So we’re out in Star Valley Ranch, living the glamorous travel trailer life—which is basically camping with plumbing you hope works. We fire up the propane and boom—leak. Not the good kind of boom. The kind where you start Googling “how flammable is flammable?”
I need a new pigtail. Not the hairstyle. The little hose thing that connects the propane tank to the regulator. I go to True Value in Thayne. They don’t have it. Nice folks, but they looked at me like I asked for a unicorn saddle.
So I drive up to Alpine. Ace Hardware. At this point, I’m expecting another “we don’t have it, but good luck out there.” Instead, these guys go full MacGyver. They don’t have the exact part, but they spend half an hour helping me figure out a workaround. I’m not even sure how long I was in there. Time stopped. I think I blacked out from gratitude.
They didn’t just sell me stuff—they solved a problem. That’s rare. Usually, you walk into a store and they’re like, “We don’t have it, but we do have sadness and disappointment.”
Ace in Alpine has a great selection, but more importantly, they’ve got people who care. Friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help a guy with a propane leak who’s one bad connection away from becoming a cautionary tale.
If you’re in the area and need hardware—or just want to feel like someone believes in you—go to Ace in Alpine. They’ll fix your trailer, your mood, and maybe your faith...

We ended up figuring it out and when i went to fix it at home it took less than 10 mins to fix the issue. Lol he is the reason for the slogan "ace is the place with the helpfull hardware folks" Thank you again Keith!! If u need help with a project this is the place to go! Gary was also...
Read moreJust purchased a Stihl chainsaw.. We got lucky and Keith was an in store expert. He quickly helped us pick out the right option for us and then recognized we had never owned a chainsaw before. So he gave us a concise but very comprehensive run through of everything from pulling the top off and looking at carbs/spark plugs/chain tightener so we can trouble shoot ourselves all the way to making sure we knew all the basic safety and user guidelines. Thanks so much to Ace and more so to Keith for setting us up...
