Bit of a long review, but hopefully it will help someone know what to realistically expect here:
Our whole experience buying a sectional through Modern Home was a bit of a rollercoaster and I can’t say it was ALL bad, but I think there are some definite areas of opportunity for improvement.
My wife and I went to Modern Home with a big budget for a quality sectional. When we walked in and asked for some help, the girl ignored us at first and didn’t take us very seriously. (Might have something to do with us being college students? Dunno.) We found the sectional we wanted pretty quickly and then picked out pillows and fabric colors. Wasn’t until after I swiped my card that she explained it would probably take 10-14 weeks for delivery. That was a bit unexpected and almost dissuaded us from buying it.
My biggest frustration though wasn’t with the three-month estimated wait time (obviously not in their control), but more with the fact that the estimate turned out to be totally inaccurate. Ended up taking around 20 weeks (that’s almost 5 MONTHS) and the last 6 weeks involved us repeatedly calling them asking when it was supposed to arrive from CA and getting told “probably next week” over and over again.
The girl we communicated with the first few times was very rude and unhelpful but the girl we talked with the last couple times was friendly and proactive about keeping us updated. Not sure if it was the same girl with a major customer service improvement or two different people.
We finally got an official delivery date from Modern Home so I got a couple guys to help me clear out the living room for the new sectional that day, and then I got a call saying they wouldn’t have room for it in the truck and I’d have to wait another week. At that point I was so fed up that I insisted they make it work. Long story short, they made it work.
Delivery guys were fantastic! They brought it up to the third floor and assembled it for us. The sectional is GREAT. We love it. Definitely worth the money, but I don’t know if it was worth the time and frustration of poor expectations and communication. Unfortunately you can get money back but not time.
Normally when expectations are not met, it’s good business to offer a partial refund or even an apology, but Modern Home didn’t seem bothered whatsoever by the fact that they estimated 10-15 weeks and it took more than a MONTH longer than that.
Summary: Poor customer service but great...
Read moreWe went in to look at a cute little green couch that we saw on Modern Homes Facebook post. Unfortunately, the couch was not the exact color as it showed on Facebook. Luckily for Modern Home (and us I guess) Kalin snuck up on us like a Lion to a Gazelle. After the first awkward, “Oh, we just came in to look at this couch that upon further review we really don’t like it at all,” he politely left us to browse the tundra of various real and synthetic skins stretched over wooden skeletons. Our natural hunter instincts kicked in and we circled in on our prey. The Paloma coloring of a beast of a sectional drew us in with it’s 3 powered reclining seats and real leather. Our indecision carried us along the path to an even larger beast of a sectional we eyed for the wall of the theater room. With the experience of a seasoned hunting guide Kalin approached and dropped the words of every furniture huntresses dreams (and every expedition financier’s nightmare), “floor model.” I knew I was doomed. For an easy out we petitioned Kalin for time to return with measurements for the corpses places in our home.
Upon our return with doubts of sufficient space, Kalin offered options of return and warranties that covered future damages to our prizes. Specifically from our little live-in Picasso that sees every surface as his canvases. After much consideration I just couldn’t pull the trigger on the beast for the theater room. I feared it being too comfortable for the young bucks and doe wandering around our estate. Yes, I was able to overcome the promptings of Kalin and my other half. Instead of two trophies I was able to leave with just one, and a mighty fine one at that. Still doubtful of the space required for the beast of a sectional Kalin assuaged mine and my wife’s fears with the promise of return.
If anyone happens to find their way into Modern Homes and meets Kalin, he will do everything in his power to help snag that perfect piece to showcase in your home. Thank you Kalin, and we’re sorry for keeping you past the closing...

I am utterly flabbergasted and dismayed this place is still in business after the horrific experiences I’ve had with them and obviously many others as well.
Bought a sectional from them the first week of September. Paid cash and was told they had 7 of them on order and being shipped that week. They were already built and on their way to Idaho from Washington.
2 weeks later I called, there was a delay in shipping, covid restrictions and all. I am understanding and asked when to expect the delivery. Just 2 more weeks.
Fast forward to last week of October. I called this store asking for my couch. This call is where to bad happens. I am informed that the manufacturer had run out of fabric for my “already built And shipped couch.”
November I call in 1 side of the couch is in. They will have all of it before Christmas. Couple weeks before Christmas they deliver 2/3s of the couch.
2 weeks into December I call I’m angry and I’m using curse words at this point. The chic that answered the phone can’t handle angry customers. Is offended by foul language. Well I’m offended for being lied to and starting to feel I got taken.
Owner calls me. Sorry but worthless well tell him if our couch isn’t in our home by February he’s coming and getting them and refunding us.
January 29th my final pieces are delivered 2 days before they needed to refund me. NEVER NEVER NEVER TRUST THESE LYING THIEVES.
Ashley furniture on first is 1/3 less costly and haven’t lied to me yet. Oh and by the way. Since I ordered this couch, I have replaced every single piece of furniture in the home. Ashley and Amazon got...
