Super Bit is a vintage gaming (and all around 90s fab) store located on the sleepy edge of Annandale, VA. I happened across this store when I was looking for a dry cleaner in the area and I'm happy I did, because I now own three vintage gaming systems that made my childhood an absolute delight and completed my fiancee-sanctioned mancave. Most importantly, what distinguishes this store are three priceless quantities: friendliness, honesty, and expertise. And funny enough, I identified those qualities in each of the employees respectively while I was there.
First off, when I walked in this morning, Elizabeth was helping a client sell his unwanted games to the store. The man, who appeared not to know the value of his games was at a disadvantage. Elizabeth offered him a considerable sum for his items, but not without notifying the man that if he wanted to go through the hassle of selling the used games on ebay, he might get a bit more for them. I found this to be a sterling example of the store's honesty. Maybe it's just Elizabeth, but I doubt it because birds of a feather typically flock together. As I side note, I compared this store's prices on ebay, and sure you might save a couple of pennies by waiting to have the items shipped to you, but then do you really know what you're getting? The store tests all their stock and I've been beyond pleased with the items I purchased.
Second, after browsing the store for awhile I told a fellow shopper that etsy typically has sellers that professionally reprint labels and boxes for vintage videogames, which is a great way to refurbish your existing library. Eric, resident expert chimed in to educate that what I meant to say was "refabricate" labels and boxes, not refurbish--which is something entirely different and should not be confused. It highlighted to me that these guys were experts of their industry and had a true passion for vintage gaming. BTW, if you're asking yourself why vintage games are so great in the first place, this store is a great place to start learning (or revisiting) their wonder.
Third, the owner Chris is just plain and simply a nice dude that loves talking vintage gaming and 90s. He's got that big kid vibe that everyone loves and is full of positive energy.
I'll be going back to this store on a regular basis; visiting this store is akin to watching an episode of Ted Lasso: cathartic and full of positivity.
Give this place a try, it's very fairly priced and has a wonderful selection of tested videogame systems, vintage apparel, vintage posters and a bunch of other wonderful stuff to bring back the kid in you, or to share a piece of your own history with your kids.
Thanks guys!!!

I drove quite far to come here on a recommendation of a coworker. Unfortunately didn’t have the best of experience.
Bought a handful of GB/GBC games. Well priced, so that was a plus. The guy that helped check out was friendly and helpful. Went out to the car and tested everything out. Got to a game that didn’t run at all. Took it back in and they quickly took it to their back room and cleaned up the cartridge, showed it working on their Gameboy. Awesome.
Got back out to the car and while it ran at first, after reinserting it the game stopped working and I could only get it to run occasionally. While this is on an Analogue Pocket, the 20+ carts I’ve run on it before have worked great. I tried the final game I bought and that didn’t run at all. Took both back in to have them look at the second game and maybe relook at the first one.
A different person helped me this time, and she was quite defensive the whole time. It’s a whole $15 of games between the two, I’m not that worried if I bought worn out games. That happens. I just wanted to know if that’s what it was.
She took both to the back and came back with the first one showing it running on a GB. It’d be much better if they just brought a Gameboy out and tested it there, but they don’t.
I heard them blowing on a cart so I asked if that’s what they did (to fix it) and she said it worked right away, but then she blew on the cart. I asked why, just to better understand their troubleshooting process in case it’d be something I could try on these carts myself in the future, and she continued to be defensive over it. Brought the other cart out after opening it up and cleaning it, showed it working. I asked if she’d remove the cart and reinsert it to test it working again, as that was my issue previously. She turned off the Gameboy and turned it back on. When I asked again for her to reinsert the cartridge I was met with the same defensiveness about the whole situation.
Good selection, good pricing, mostly good experience, but ultimately not something I’d...
Read moreI went to Super Bit around 2 weeks ago and I can say with certainly that if you are looking for quality and cheap retro games this is not a store for you my first game I got their was Super Mario Bros it was priced a little bit above market value which was pretty good for a Retro Game but when I got home and played the game it took numerous attempts for the game to boot up you can expect this for garage sales as the reason for this is it was not cleaned (Which I did not know at the time) It wasn't until I went to another Video Game Store where he showed me how to clean it (I bought Zelda and Days of Thunder which were both cleaned) that I thought wait did Super Bit clean there Games as one Game did not boot up after around 20 attempts and when I used a q-tip I saw the q-tip turn from complete White to Dark Gray and when I boot it up after the cleaning It worked first try. When I went back to Super Bit I tried to bargain as they did not clean there games but they said that they were fairly priced (Which would be true if they were CLEANED) all in all do not shop they unless you need a Console or Accessories but not...
