In the old days we had one movie theater with one movie & we loved it. And when the movie was done it left forever and a new movie came in. This theater is like the old days. One screen and one movie...if you do not like the movie, then you might have to wait a few weeks for a new one.
I really love the old days and the simple times of what the Antioch Theatre offers. Early bird tickets are only 4 bucks. That is an incredible deal and honestly you can not find a better deal anywhere.
This theatre also has a balcony too. I have not watched a movie from up here because this seems to be where the teenagers go and I am sure they are not watching the movie, so I better stick to the main level. I have explained to my little one that most theaters I went to as a kid had balconies. She thinks that is cool. I am sure she will want to sit up there with a boy but I am going to cross that bridge when I get to it.
One of the coolest thing that this theater does is free refills on soda and popcorn but that is not the cool part. They actually will come down the aisle during the movie and check to see if you need more, then they will go and fill it up for you. Are you kidding me? Who does that?
The staff is also super nice. The worker behind the counter takes your money for tickets and can also fill your popcorn or soda request. What I really love is the old school tickets. The tickets are actual tickets like you would see at a raffle but this is how tickets use to look when I was a kid. There was no printing on them with the name of the movie or the theater number. I also love that they have the old school ticket machine which spits out the tickets. I must be the old one in our group because no one else remembers those. Man am I getting old.
The workers will also do some trivia before the movie starts and you have a chance to win prizes. They also run a contest on Facebook to win tickets. I always seem to be late to the party and I have never won, even though I typically know the correct answer. One of these days I am going to win...I hope!!!
So if you are looking for an old movie feel and what to go back in time when movie theatres still had charm, then this is the place. The prices are super low and the staff is really friendly. There is also plenty of parking around with spots in front of the theatre with a two hour time limit and spots behind the chamber of commerce that have a 6 hour time limit. So depending on how long the movie is you can park...
Read moreIf you love classic theatres this is the place to go! The employees are super friendly and they remember you and your family. The prices are low and you can take your family to the movies without spending much. I have been going there for 25 years and will always be a loyal customer. There aren't many businesses like this left anymore so support them before they are all gone!
All of the new theatres are corporate giants that charge you insane amounts of money for a snack. Yes they have neon lights and game rooms but YOU pay for all that in the prices you pay! The newer theatres usually don't last because they only focus on taking your money, not building customer loyalty. Antioch Theatre has stood the test of time because they remember that families are what is important. Going to the theatre used to be something special, making memories with your loved ones or friends. In Antioch family is still the focus!
A theatre that does trivia and gives prizes before the movie, now that's something special! They know you, and your family are more than just money to them! They even offer to bring you refills of your popcorn and soda! If you want to be treated like a walking wallet then go to a big theatre! If you want to be treated like family, go to the Antioch Theatre!
Understand that the owners of the Antioch Theatre have struggled to keep prices low while trying to save a piece of history. These are real people who are doing this out of an appreciation of family and history. This is not a corporation trying to make huge profits. Let's prove that we can see beyond neon lights and game rooms, that we support small businesses that care about preserving our history.
My family took me to the Antioch Theatre when I was a child, now I take my children there. That's why I say "Antioch Theatre is about family!"

Read moreWe love this place! It's a very small local theater, filled with character! The staff has been very friendly each time we've visited. There are only two rooms, and the one closest to the entry is tiny, but super cozy! A great place to go with friends or take your family. The prices are very reasonable, the popcorn is fresh, and the staff is always friendly. Be patient with the popcorn, because it's typically the same person making the popcorn that works the front counter, so they have to bounce back and forth. The snacks are very reasonably priced, with a drink station to fill your own soda choice. Also, and add your own butter dispenser as well as some topping items for popcorn at a self-serve station. There is plenty of parking available up and down Rt. 83 and on Main St., in addition to a public parking lot close by, so it's easy and convenient to get to. We typically make an afternoon of it by going to a local restaurant for dinner and then stopping at Rivalry Ale House or The Lodge for a drink before coming to the theater to end the night with a movie. I highly recommend visiting and adding Antioch Theater to...
