I've shopped at our local Kroger store off and on for about the last 5 years or so. It's a nice store and the location is mostly convenient too. Also, I really like so much the Pharmacy employees! How I wish more like them could actually work in the grocery section of the store itself. With this said, that's about all I can say on the positive side about this store. Each time I've gone in, the employees are somewhat friendly but usually they don't go out of their way to make you feel welcome even with just a friendly hello or smile. Anything to acknowledge some kind of welcome when they see you. And sometimes it's hard to find an employee to ask them a question or well it's just hard to find an employee period should you need anything. Through out most of my shopping trips to this Kroger store has been, to put it nicely, less than desirable. I really like this Kroger store and don't have a problem with finding what I need or want as it always seems to stay very well stocked with most items through out the store. However, the employees is another issue within itself. My experience today was just beyond terrible and not how stores should handle their customers to say the least. When a store opens regardless the time that's means they should be ready to wait on someone and do their job. Didn't have any problem getting my items and even had one or two of the employees that were very friendly and nice to me which meant so much. But when I went to check out the items, NO ONE was at a cash register!!! The only register that was open was the Self-Checkout! I had a whole cart full of items that needed to be checked out. I had never worked one of those registers by myself before and really needed a regular cashier to help check out my items. Stood in the front looking at all of the registers and each one was not lite up except for the Self-Checkout register. I saw a shelf-stocker and they were nice enough to get me someone to help check my items out but it happened to be the Customer Service lady in front at the C.S. desk. The whole time I was going through this not one time did this C.S. employee show any kind of help to me whatsoever. The C.S. personnel finally came and helped but it was reluctant and forced which of course made me feel beyond bad not only as a person but as a customer especially the later of the two!! I could feel the coldness from her as if I was truly bothering her or something. Even said a couple of times (which I didn't have to of course) sorry for this or didn't mean to bother you only to get a slight whisper of a reply and even that was hard to pick up as she didn't even look at me and smile the whole time she was checking me out. The time I went to the store was between 6:00 - 7:00 am. I said to her, wow! there's no cashiers why? She just said, they don't come in til later. Regardless, I told her the store is open NOW so someone should be waiting on customers like me with a lot or just a little didn't matter. There should be at least one cashier helping people and checking out their items or groceries no matter the time as long as the store is open. She never responded. I just felt sick after that whole experience needless to say. There was no excuse in an employee being this way with a customer! Even though she checked me out she was reluctant to do it and had a terrible attitude as if I didn't even exist. Other than just a few other customers in the store I was the only one with a cart full of items and got treated like this. Will probably take this one to Corporate Headquarters. Sorry but there's just no excuse in this kind of treatment towards any customer or human being especially business wise on Kroger's behalf to not have at least (1) cashier in front working as soon as the store opens. I will still go back to this store because I do like it and because of the prices and most of the nice employees but after an experience such as I had of course it will put a very bad taste in my mouth to never want to go back again. Pray this never happens again. Shouldn't have happened in the...
Read moreWhen we first moved the the area, I shopped at this store frequently. However, I noticed several times that the price I was charged was not the price I expected considering card discounts and digital coupons. About a year ago, I manually checked every item before exiting the store, and the Managers did give me the correct prices- however this should not have to be done manually.
I stopped shopping at this store at that time, because I prefer not to play Slot Machines every time I check out.
A few months ago, Kroger had a very good advertised price for Chicken Thighs. I went back, purchased them, and---had a good experience that one time.
Today, they also had a good advertised price on chicken. On my way to the chicken, I saw a very good digital coupon for buns. ---I went to my app, scanned it, and it said the coupon was loaded. However, it did not show up in my coupons. I asked for assistance, and the store employee attempted to add the coupon to my account, but he was unable to do so. I checked-out (with this one item) and the cashiers manually entered it into the system- with the correct price.
I then went to pick up the chicken- The chicken checked out as expected.
I then went for purchase #3---- Colossal Shrimp advertised at $5.99 a pound. (A 2 lb bag) I could not find a bag that said "Colossal" so I asked the man working in meat, and he showed me a bag. I specifically asked if that was the correct bag of shrimp because it did not say "Colossal", and he assured me that it was. When I went to check out---for this one item---the digital coupon took. Without tax---total was $13.98. $5.99 a lb; X 2 lbs does not equal $13.98.
incorrect pricing on 2/3 items is unacceptable.
I plan to go back to shopping at Walmart where I do not have to pay good slots. However, I cannot, in good conscious walk away without considering all the people who are being charged unfair prices.
I will be back again- but if this pattern continues, I plan to report to the State Attorney General, as these practices (intentional or not) are not fair to your...
Read moreI have always loved the Kroger in Appomattox even though it is small and limited in the items it carries. It was always friendly and helpful and easy and the people where awesome. I have been doing deliveries for a while because I was sick so I hadn't been in the store for some time. I was sad at my most recent visit... The store is still clean and stocked well and fresh but the atmosphere is different... Very short staffed only 1 register open they preferred it if you did self check out and the staff monitoring the self check out (4 kids) were doing nothing, not helping if help was needed, were kinda rude, just laughing and joking, not paying attention to the customers at all, and were of no help to nobody what so ever. At the 1 open register there was no bagger like there use to be. There was no one at customer service and the phone just rang off the hook and when I asked the girl who was checking me out a simple question the one and only person who I guess was suppose to be the acting manager came over and snapped at me for asking a simple question and told me that I couldn't hold up the line by asking questions that I would have to pay and bag up my groceries and then go over to the customer service desk and wait there for someone to come over and I could ask my question there. To say I was shocked and surprised is an understatement. I paid, I bagged up my groceries and I left. I tried to call back a few days later and surprise the phone just rang off the hook... After 15 tries over the course of 5 hours I finally was able to get someone to answer the phone and I said I have a question and was told we are to busy and short staffed if you have a question come into the store Thank You and they hung up wow 😲 is all I can say... I hope they turn this store around and it goes back to what it once was because it breaks my heart to see how it is...
