Last night my wife and I tried this new restaurant for the first time. We walked in and the restaurant was clean and very well decorated. Unfortunately, that was the end of the positivity from this experience. The hostess and the young lady at the front of the restaurant seemed totally clueless and when we asked to place a to-go order we were sent to another area that was unattended for about 5 minutes. Once we finally got one of the previously mentioned young ladies to begin taking our order, she seemed like she had no idea how to pronounce anything on the menu, much less what was even on their menu. She called the other previously mentioned hostess over who was equally clueless. They called the manager over and he took our order, which in the process of doing he also took a phone call and started taking an order over the phone during the middle of our order. We paid and sat down to wait for our meal. We waited for around 25 mins and walked back to the previously mentioned area which remained unattended. While standing there waiting to be helped, our all-star hostesses were at the hostess stand taking selfies and making kissy faces at their phones. Unknown to us, our meal had been sitting up front for around 15 mins. I expressed my frustration to the manager, who did offer to remake our meal so it would be hot (kudos to him for that) but out of frustration we declined and went home to eat the meal. It was between warm and cool and COMPLETELY WRONG and tasted like someone spilled the salt shaker on the grill. I called back to the restaurant again to express my displeasure and frustration and again, the manager offered to either remake or refund our meal (kudos again) which I accepted the refund. Overall, this experience was very bad and they need to immediately address the front door staff, as they are the first impression on your business. The one star I give is because the manager attempted to make...
Read moreFood was mostly very good. I wish the meat in my biria tacos was chopped finer, it was very chunky and leaned to the drier side of the scale which isn’t why I order biria tacos.
The shrimp-corn dip is outstanding.
The margaritas are strong and delicious.
Unfortunately on our visit the service was hurried and inefficient. Two different workers came to take our initial drink order, we had to ask for waters which were never refilled, we had to ask for plates so that we could share our appetizers. We had a lot of staff doing drive by check-ins but we never felt like we had an actual server that knew what was happening at our table. We were never asked if we wanted dessert, a check was unceremoniously dropped at our table. It was very reasonable for the amount of food and drink we had. I certainly can’t complain about the prices.
The dining room definitely has good tables and bad tables as far as the vibe goes. It would be awesome to see some more character added to the space. There is a lot of color but not much comfort. It’s basically just a big room with a ton of tables and chairs. The lights were very very bright at our table but across the aisle were cozy looking covered booths. If the whole space felt like those booths it would be a much more enjoyable experience.
All in all I can’t wait to go back next time I’m in town, even just for the shrimp dip. I just hope some...
Read moreThe taco wagon is quickly becoming the best Mexican restaurant in Appomattox.
While they are not quite there yet, the other restaurant in town has sharply declined in quality while increasing their price.
Taco wagon has quality food at a decent price. One of their downfalls with their food is that many of the dishes lack spiciness. Many of their dishes should include jalapenos. The other would be the ground beef dishes, these dishes don't scream quality that should definitely have more seasoning.
The better qualities is that the service is quite good. Their location is easy to get to and they have a small patio if you wish to eat outdoors. The arrangement of the restaurant leaves something to be desired as it seems there is a lot of unused space.
You will run into a small wait time in the evenings during the weekends. During this timeframe the staff does seem to be unsure of how to seat people. Larger parties seem to give this location trouble. Outside of this you would normally be seated quickly and upon arriving at the restaurant.
It won't be long until this will be the only Mexican restaurant needed...
