We hired Living Craft to remodel our 1968 house and to build three new outbuildings. The short version is that they are truly wonderful to work with and I would work with them again on any future project. Long version: The remodel was extensive - we gutted the house to the studs, added a mud room and built a new patio, and built a chicken coop with solar and a 4-season greennouse. We put new siding on most of the house, a new roof, and solar panels, and added a few windows. We were very involved in the process from start to finish, and felt like we were well supported by Living Craft to do so, and that our input was thoughtfully received and integrated. We were also really interested in sustainable and green building and materials and Living Craft was 100% behind that effort. Our home was featured on the Colorado Green Builder's Guild Green Home Tour last year (2023) and we received a lot of positive comments from the 150 visitors we had. We love the finished product - including plaster through the whole house and tadelakt in the bathroom - and really enjoy living in our home. We initially worked a lot with Ben, who is no longer with Living Craft, and further into the project Cheryl took over and was our main point of contact from then on out. We also worked with Frank on select items - all the leads/owners, and all the staff were great to work with. I highly...
Read moreWe worked with Ben Waldman and the team at Living Craft for a remodel project at our home in Denver. The project involved completely replacing our heating system (gas boiler & rads) with a geothermal heat pump and new ductwork, finishing our basement (including all new electrical, plumbing, and basement laundry and bathroom), and a partial remodel of our kitchen and eat-in nook. Starting from the beginning of the project, Ben did a great job of listening to our goals and ideas and developing creative concepts for some layout challenges in our existing space. Ben managed all of the subs well and kept things moving ahead smoothly throughout the project. The Living Craft team worked hard and were respectful of our space and of the challenges of us living in the home throughout the renovation. The quality of the work throughout is excellent. When there were hiccups with subs' schedules or pricing Ben was always open to finding an agreeable solution for both of us.
Living Craft had a constant focus throughout the project on energy efficiency, quality of materials, and doing things 'the right way.' I have worked with contractors in the past where I felt like I had to question their work or ask them to redo things, and this was never the case with Living Craft. I cannot say enough good things about the whole team at Living Craft and would definitely...
Read moreWe met Living Craft when we were faced with the totally overwhelming task of rebuilding our family home destroyed in the Marshall Fire. After we had decided to rebuild a high-performance Passive House, we knew we needed a team that would create a sanctuary in which we would heal while being mindful of our budgetary restraints and compassionate to our extremely emotional states. That sounds like a whole lot to ask, but that's exactly what we got with Frank and Cheryl and the rest of the crew at Living Craft. They were there alongside us from the beginning during the design phase with the architects, through the minute we moved into our beautiful new home, ensuring no detail went overlooked and helping guide us through the seemingly endless amount of decisions homeowners need to make when building a house. They've got a unique talent for finding subcontractors that are equally as excited as they are about building science and delivering quality product. They even came in right at the budget they set from the beginning. We've lived in the house for a year and a half now and it's performing even better than we could have hoped. We can't think of a better way (or with a better team) to have recovered from such a...
