Mikasa AVL Catering — Local services in Asheville

We are so grateful Jordan Hunt from THIO recommended Mikasa as a catering option for our wedding. We truly loved our tasting experience and the wedding food itself was plentiful & phenomenal! We ate our leftovers the next night with my husband’s family and were so happy to get to enjoy everything again! The lomo saltado is just incredible, but everything was SO delicious from the spinach empanadas & mini crab cake apps, fresh salad, to the garlic choclo (corn) rice. Their dessert at our tasting was phenomenal too but we had an amazing baker lined up already otherwise we would have absolutely added a Mikasa dessert. Also greatly appreciated the flexibility they had for our numerous dietary restrictions, as that component can be stressful when planning a wedding but they had so many delicious vegan/gluten-free options that all of our guests were happy. Their set-up was beautiful, they even brought in their own items to decorate the catering buffet table. Many complimented our food & we loved having something slightly more unique to typical wedding fare. Ana & Santiago were a pleasure to work with and we are so appreciative of their team! Absolutely recommend them for your wedding or event catering needs! And we will keep visiting their kiosk in the S&W Food Hall downtown Asheville for more delicious empanadas as well:)

Working with Mikasa was amazing from start to rehearsal dinner. From the beginning, we were attracted to them due to their uniqueness. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of food and service during our tasting. It's very apparent that Ana & Santiago are extremely passionate about their business, their food, their culture, and the guest experience. Ana welcomed us into her gorgeous home for the tasting that had breathtaking views of Asheville! Ana & Santiago met up with our wedding planner to map out our rehearsal dinner venue for where they would set up/cook. since our venue did not have an oven this required some extra creativeness to make sure food was hott but Mikasa made it work for the space. More than made it work it was phenomenal!! Our overall experience was really fun and we didn't have to worry at all on the day of the rehearsal dinner. Ana made sure at our rehearsal dinner that the bride/groom (us) got to enjoy the delicious food as well by sending plates our way while socializing & always just a step behind us to dispose of anything lol We had several guests tell us that it was "the best food they've ever had". I loved that the bride and groom got their own special meals (We couldn’t choose from the delicious 2 options). As well as the guest getting 2 desserts which Gabby did amazing on! Chef Santiago & Ana were such a pleasure to work with from start to finish!

Chef Santiago came highly recommended in multiple Asheville foody groups. While on vacation for my birthday we wanted to have a special dinner to celebrate. After a phone conversation about the potential menu, we ultimately chose Chef Santiago, Mikasa AVL because of the delicious menu options, prompt response and personable demeanor.

My birthday dinner experience was amazing! The atmosphere was very relaxed. They served our triple hors d’oeuvres on the scenic balcony of our rental. The coconut shrimp was so delicious, the crabcakes were to die for, but the trout ceviche oh my gosh, I’m in heaven-just give me the bowl!!!! I was on the fence about the trout but they sold me on it. I thought it would be fishy and I thought wrong!

After the hors d’oeuvres we moved inside and started with a Caprese salad, then onto the main course with sea scallops that were sweet and delicate and oh so delicious. We finished off our experience with a light and yummy unbaked cheesecake with a special flare.

I have already recommended this experience to so many friends that live in Asheville or anyone who visits I would recommend these guys to anyone. This was such a fun experience. When I go back, I will be seeing them again if they’re available. Thank you for a lovely experience Chef...
