Thai Chili Asian Bistro Asheville, NC — Restaurant in Asheville

Dropped in today for lunch and was in a hurry so I called them to order by phone so that the food would be ready when I got there. They accommodated this beautifully by helping me order by phone as I drove without me having a menu to look at. So that’s exceptional service in my book. And the woman on the phone even asked if I’d like to sit inside or outside, and so when I arrived, there was already a place set with a nice cold water with lemon on a hot day at a table on their beautiful patio with the lake view. It was so nice to relax to that kind of welcome. Then the food came and it was perfectly spiced (mild for me) and a generous portion, with a spring roll and a little cup of delectable coconut soup on the side. I very much enjoyed my meal there. And then, to top it off, the price was insanely inexpensive… 10 dollars and change! I think one of the owners came out to check on those of us seated outside and was all smiles. 4 of us met for lunch based on a recommendation from a friend but unfortunately all did not go well. 3 of us had pork dishes and the pork was so overdone it was dried out and hard to chew. We brought this to the attention of our server, but no effort was made to correct the problem. The 4th dish with chicken was okay but rather bland. Our meals came out at 3 different times, with a considerable wait for the last one. Granted, there was only one server for the whole room, but she just dropped the last plate off with no explanation or apology for the delay. The server also had a habit of dropping the dirty dishes in a tub in the corner of the room very loudly (one of my pet peeves) and fairly frequently. This review will be raving! I am so glad that we found Thai chili Asian bistro. This was so authentic and tasty! When I was in grad school we had thus au pairs, two separate people who lived with us for over two years, and taught us how to cook Thai food, took us to the stores, (we were living in Boston at the time, so there were lots of wonderful Asian markets) and showed us the ingredients and how to beautifully prepare some of my favorite Thai dishes. So we know Thai food! And this is authentic Thai food! I think I have not had better Thai food since I’ve been living in Asheville, and that’s been over 20 years.
