UPDATE: they have Thai iced tea and the Kani Naruto is delicious! The first time I came I picked up the Kani Naruto for my friend. She let me try it and it was so good 🔥. This time I got my favorite roll, Superman (with the tuna cooked) and the Kani Naruto. It is very fresh and the flavors subtly exapand as you chew. This is probably due to the perfect proportions of each ingredient. I’ve eaten this roll at other restaurants and this is definitely of the top 3 I’ve had. While waiting for my order I asked about Thai iced tea even though I didn’t see it on the menu (but they have a few Thai dishes so I decided to ask) and sure enough they have it, just not on the take out menu. It’s very refreshing and not too sweet. They also don’t use a ton of ice like other places, so you get plenty of it and it’s worth the price ($3.50 including tax). I hope they menu keeps expanding, my favorite desert is mango sticky rice with coconut sauce. If that comes here I will probably start coming weekly 😄. The hostess/chashier is so nice as always, she remembered me from last time, made sure my order was correct and even brought my order to the car when I had to come out and get extra change to pay for the add on drink. Great service and food here! 💖
FIRST REVIEW: I was craving some really filling sushi rolls 🍣. There are a few north Asheville sushi spots, but the specialty rolls menu was lacking and unimaginative 😕. So I expanded my search and came across AS&H in south Asheville, in the parking lot of the Walmart center. My eyes grew big as I saw the expansive sushi list and more than one roll I wanted to try 😄. I saw the Superman roll was the most popular based on reviews, but it was raw and I don’t like raw sushi. So I ordered the I Love Scallops roll and before hanging up I decided to ask if I could get the Superman roll cooked. Emmy who is the hostess said no problem and my order would be ready in 15 min. It takes me 30 minutes to get there but I was pleased to find my sushi still nice and hot when I got home ✨. I can see why Superman is a popular roll 😍 it is DELICIOUS and filling 🙌🏾. The I love Scallop roll is good and filling too, but Superman is def my favorite 💝 I will gladly drive 30 minutes I the future just for this roll lol I hope they expand and come to merrimon ave!
The staff is really nice, I was impressed by the friendliness Emmy at the front counter. I also love they use local, organic, and wild caught foods ✨
Thanks for having innovative rolls! I highly recommend this sushi spot, best sushi in...
Read moreFor a while I visited AS&H often. It's right up the street from my house and, at first, the food and service seemed good. I noticed each time I came in that i never had the same server twice. For a while I wondered if it was the location but this time around I learned that it most certainly has to do with the management. When we sat down to eat the manager was our server she started by taking our drink order and it was clear that the restaurant was busy. Most of my family works in the service industry so we are not impatient when it comes to busy restaurants, but the way our server handled her stress was ridiculous. She first left us with our drinks for an extremely long time without so much as an, "I'll be right with you" then when she finally did come to take out order she rushed us through it to a point where my sister got nervous and stumbled over her words until she ended up (without knowing it) ordering the wrong roll. Our food arrived much later -cold. (I ordered a deep fried roll) and when my sister went to inquire about the difference between the roll she thought she was going to receive and the one she had, The manager got angry and argued that she was given the correct roll, and then proceeded to shove a menu across my partners face and into my sisters to solidify her point. In my experience as a server the correct procedure would have been to see if there was something else that would have satisfied my guest more. Ordinarily I would have chucked all of the previous complaints up to a busy reatuarant on a Saturday night (although it wasn't very busy considering the time) but I witness the manager talking down to one of her employers right out in from of all of the costumers to a point that made my face turn red with embarrassment. My question of why they have such a high turn over rate was answered and with that I will never again go back. Thoroughly disgusted with the service, the food, and the management. As far as im concerned, if you can't keep your mindset amongst rush house then you have no business managing...
Read moreFriday night they close at 10:30, we arrive at 9 with a party of two, after talking about trying this place for months. Finally go and it was just pathetic. Seated immediately with a 1/4 or less full dining room. Two servers could barely handle the job. The couple next to us said they had to retrieve the waitress to place an order after waiting so long. 26 minutes later we finally get waters... Brought by the second waitress, not ours. So we couldn't even pull the "we're ready to order". Another comment from the table next to us about how long their food took to come out. Still no waitress to take our order. Mind you they are walking around doing random tasks... After another 15 minutes pass and we decide walk out. As we pass the hostess stand both servers standing there doing whatever, they say oh, "see ya?" Like, what's going on? I mean really, I'd be way more understanding if you were actually busy... There were maybe 10 people in the building.... The tables were clean... Rolling silverware??? Nope, You just forgot to take our orders? It's your primary job???
It'll be another several months before trying this one again, hate to say it to because after seeing all the reviews we were looking...
