I've been bringing clothes in for a couple years now. The last few times I wanted to drop things off everything was declined or they only took 1-2 things. Which would be fine because they're trying to cultivate a look but it's baffling when 1. I bought the exact items from there but only wore a couple times and decided wasn't for me so I brought it back since they don't do returns. 2. some of the reasons are real head scratchers: "looks too worn" "we're not taking dresses" (it's August...) 3. they're constantly asking for donations and the hangers are pretty barren. The "looks too worn" one really gets me because, again, it's something I bought there already looking like that and their inventory doesn't really reflect that standard. Their things used to be quirky-cute but now it's just...ugly. I mean, different strokes, right? One time nothing qualified and I had to pick it up by 5:00 or they'd donate it and I was really bummed about that bc there was no way I could make it that afternoon. (I know it's their policy, was hoping they could make it 1-2 days.) But the thing that really irks me is that half the store is now "no trade"; you can't even buy things when you actually do have credit. So many items are made by local artists (support local artists, for sure) but it makes it difficult to actually spend the credit you're getting. I've brought this up before and the person behind the counter acknowledged that as "something we've been hearing a lot." ...change that then? Anyway, not what it used to be for me, they're super picky and it's a struggle to find anything to buy (for me).
(Edited to add, since I can't reply to owner's reply:
I mean⌠youâre welcome to reply, of course as I am allowed to post the review. The purpose of my review was to let others know to perhaps temper expectations when coming in.
I keep hoping itâll change / itâs in a plaza I frequent.
This is surprising considering how much of the inventory looks very worn and washed. And, again, the things I'd already bought there and brought back were worn 1-2 after which is why I was bringing them back, because I wasn't using them.
Thatâs really a shame they felt that way. I asked if they wanted to exchange store credit for cash because I saw they had a bunch of stuff in their hands. They agreed and Venmoed my the $. I gave them my credit and left. It seemed like a smooth and easy transaction. I wasnât intentionally trying to be deceitful or make them uncomfortable. They seemed happy to make this exchange and I did not say âhard up for cashâ but rather that I was unemployed and this was a big help since Iâve had credit since February and been unable to use it.
Thatâs your opinion. The last time I expressed my frustration, I guess not being open to feedback can be seen as ârude.â
Anyway, youâre absolutely correct! Itâs definitely better for everyone that I not shop there. Good luck with...
Read morerEvolve is one of my favorite secondhand clothing shops, itâs a treasure trove of gently used and vintage items for all genders and sizes. The owner Emily, along with her friendly in-store staff, create a welcoming atmosphere. Parents will appreciate the dedicated section for kids' activities, where their little ones can stay occupied while they explore the store.
I also love that rEvolve is committed to inclusivity and community engagement. This LGBTQIA+ safe space is woman-owned and survivor-led, making it a safe haven for everyone. They organize standup comedy nights and a music series called Secret Sounds, just check them out on Instagram for details on dates!
I'm a huge fan of Wheel Wednesdays at rEvolve where you can spin a prize wheel for discounts on your purchase or contribute to a charitable cause.
During my many visits, Iâve purchased several unique finds that have quickly become cherished possessions. From a delightful floral dress with a cottagecore vibe to a velvety shawl perfect for summer evenings. Not to mention, their holiday decor selection is always on point - I found a ceramic Christmas tree that I'll treasure for years to come.
Accessibility is a priority at rEvolve. They have a free parking lot, including handicap spaces, and the entrance is easily accessible without any stairs. The dressing rooms are spacious, equipped with chairs or a bench, ensuring a comfortable try-on experience. Additionally, they have a bathroom for customers' convenience.
rEvolve is a must-visit destination for vintage enthusiasts and those seeking unique and sustainable shopping experiences. With its exceptional selection, inclusive environment, and community-focused initiatives, this store has captured my heart. I highly recommend paying a visit to rEvolve.
It's also worth noting that rEvolve has remarkable neighbors such as Trashy Vegan and the new Chai Pani restaurant, so you won't go hungry after your...
Read moreFirst time in the store, and first time in the area thrift shopping. Went to 4 stores, this was the last. This was the BEST out of the 4 stores in price and selection. The store had TRUE vintage clothes from the 50s, 60s,70s, 80s, etc which i really appreciate! (not just a place full of 90s t shirts calling themselves vintage). Store was very neutral in feel: we didn't feel overly welcome or that the staff was too cool for us. I just personally prefer a bit more friendly and welcoming customer service, but no one was rude. Compared to the crazy overpriced stuff at other shops, The store had prices ranging $20-60 for a dress, pants, sweater, top, blazer or 2pc set (although some had major damage that was hard to ignore like brutal pit staining or major stains in front.) I'd have liked to have seen some selection in the $10-20 range---that wasn't damaged either! Still, many pieces were lovely and I picked up a few nice pieces of clothing. Parking was a bit of a bear, so plan ahead! Parking is very tight as it shares with other businesses and a popular restaurant. We just happened to get a space in a full lot when someone left. You may want to find street parking or take the bus! The tall team member behind the desk was pretty quiet and not really making eye contact with us in the shop, but shyly pleasant when spoken to. I would like to have had more clothes to choose from. As for volume, this store was more sparse than other stores, but what was there was better than what we'd seen all day in the other shops. Fill it up, welcome us in, and make the prices a wee bit lower please and we'll fill our bags time and time again! All in all, it's still worth the time to wait for a spot, and don't bother with the downtown hype (and the hyperinflated prices that go with it) and just come here...
