Even many of this town are oblivious of the ongoing achievements of this conservation land trust and it's stewardship program and outreach especially. Founded by a AT trough hiker from the 1970s, who received his inspiration to found and lead a force for saving and wisely monitoring species and community status on protected tracts. Although he, Stan Murray etc., fell in live with protecting the folk treasures of the Roan mtn. area, this has expanded to active conservation and protection projects throughout our Southern Appalachian Blue Ridge bioregion eg Hemphill Bald in the Great Smokies, in Shope Creek near Asheville, ... really, too many to list. Citizens of Asheville are largely unaware the great active conservation projects this nonprofit group, working with other such, ever continue to due excellently and wo public acknowledgement or claim.
