I love visiting hot springs. You never really know what to expect, and we booked from the road. We enjoyed our soak, but it's VERY rustic. Not the "charming rustic" of places like Mystic Hot Springs, more like "fallen-into-disrepair" style rustic that doesn't feel charming. I appreciate it when places keep prices low and accessible, but there's a difference between simple-and-clean and neglected.
Also, the energy of the place is unusual for a hot springs; it doesn't give off the healing vibes I would expect from such a place. We'd booked camping prior to looking around, which was a mistake. After one drive around the grounds, we decided it didn't feel all that welcoming and bailed. Feels more like residential-type camping, and the grounds are clearly in a late state of "going native". The field/campground is also right next to a busy road.
Maybe we didn't give it enough of a chance, but it just didn't feel like the place we'd booked by looking at...
Read moreThe residents really make this place. My battery died the other night when it was snowing, it was late and everyone else had left to go home. I was accross from the mailboxes,at the fence and the woman who lived directly behind the boxes came out and was so super sweet, she brought me some hot tea and asked if I needed help, then she wrapped a blanket around me and proceeded to charge my battery with her charger. She would have jumped me but her daughter had the car. Anyway kindness on a snowy night is what I'll remember most...
Read moreThese facilities need an update. If you are here for health and just need some hot mineral water to dip in it is perfectly adequate. However, it is not a very relaxing atmosphere. The hot pool is very small and gets crowded on a cold night. The changing rooms smell heavily of sulfur. When I came on a Wednesday night everything was slightly muddy and dirty. Maybe they only clean once a day in the morning. Otherwise a perfectly convenient place for a short soak after a hike, just not one I would stay at for longer...
