First time renting completely on my own and I needed a washer and dryer set. I didn’t feel like spending big money at the box stores and all they seem to have are the newer-style machines with the fancy buttons and chimes, which I’m not a huge fan of (plus they’re not so easy to fix if they break down). So I started searching for an older used set, and most of the places that offered them wouldn’t deliver to me in Madison, and I don’t have the means of transporting them myself. A quick Google search brought me to B&R and I’m so glad it did! Bernard was super cool and you can tell he really cares about his customers. Minutes after I walked in the door, I found a set that I liked, he checked me out and I was on my way! Even with the delivery fee, it still cost me less than a single new unit from the big stores! I also inquired if there was an additional charge since I’m on the second floor of my apartment building (as some places do charge extra for this) and he said no. Great experience all around!
This was Tuesday 9/24/24. Originally my washer and dryer were supposed to get delivered later on that day, but I received a call saying they wouldn’t be delivered until the next day. Not an issue, it actually worked out better as I was in the middle of running errands when they called. On Wednesday 9/25 I got another call, asking if they could delay my delivery until Thursday 9/26 due to the weather, however I had a scheduling conflict on Thursday so I couldn’t do it then. The delivery guys ended up coming around 7:00 Wednesday night after the weather cleared, got my machines in place (and hooked up), I told them not to rush but they were persistent! Kudos to them for that!
Now I REALLY wanted to rate this place 5 stars after my experience at the store and with the delivery, the only reason I’m giving 4/5 stars is because I asked if I could have my dryer exhaust connected, they said yes but it would be an additional small charge for the flex pipe needed to connect the dryer exhaust to the vent, not a huge deal. However when the delivery guys showed up, they didn’t have the flex pipe on board so I ended up having to go to Walmart and purchase flex pipe and clamps then put it on myself. Anybody can do it, although I did pay to have the dryer exhaust connected. However, as someone who works in retail, I understand these kinds of mistakes happen sometimes. Which is why I’ll probably still end up rating 5 stars.
The only other things I had issues with is both the washer and dryer being off balance (I had to adjust the feet underneath them to make them level) and I noticed the washer didn’t fill all the way to the top of the tub like I had hoped unless I held the load setting knob down, although I was able to calibrate the pressure switch just right & now it completely fills!
Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase and will definitely be recommending B&R to my family and friends!
UPDATE 10/17/24
I decided to give B&R the 5-star rating they deserve. (I had to edit my original review as not to exceed Google’s silly character limit on reviews)
The other night my dryer ran for a few seconds then stopped. I tried restarting it, nothing. Checked to see if maybe the breaker tripped, nope. Reddit led me to believe the thermal fuse might’ve gone bad. I removed the front access panel and checked it with a multimeter, it was fine. So I guessed maybe it was the door switch, however to access it I’d need to tear the whole machine apart, and doing so would void the 60-day warranty. So I called B&R, explained to them the situation and today Anthony came out to look at it. Turns out both my assumptions were wrong and the belt actually broke! He didn’t have a replacement belt with him but ran out, got one and came back to install it. Only a $40 fix. Now my dryer is working...
Read moreI bought a washer and dryer set. The set was 650. And then I was told 60 dollars more to deliver which was down the road and install. Well the washer and dryer was delivered and they had nothing with them to install the washer and dryer and told me the hoses would cost twenty dollars and I said ok I would pay with card I didn't have twenty dollars. Well they came back and did not connect dryer hose because he could not fit out of the spot the hose was to short. It was an east fix he needed to install the dryer first so the hose was long enough and then back the washer in and it would have been done. Instead he told me to have a kid get back there and screw in the hose so he could squeeze out the spot without disconnecting the hose and that I had to buy a longer hose myself. I couldn't do this I had no kid and I didn't fit either and had no clue how to do this so I called back and for a week they said they would come and finally tonight which was Friday I called for the second time to finish job and approximately 415 I was told they would it by close. They closed at 600 and I realized they had no intention of finishing the job. I feel that 60 dollars to go down the road in a every day truck and no hookup is a complete rip off. I have yet to tell if the washer and dryer actually will stay working because now I wonder what I bought. Is it a broken dryer is that why u couldn't finish the job. Poor service. I should've went with Facebook alot of ppl were eager to deliver and...
Read moreOur washer broke and didn't know what I was going to do. A great family friend suggested B&R. He took me there the next day, we were immediately greeted by a very polite and knowledgeable man. He gave us time and space to look around without hounding us or hovering over us. I ended up purchasing a washer which I googled retails for $1400 and we got it for $425. It was delivered the next day. When we got it home it looked brand new, no one would ever know it was used that's how clean it was. They were polite, knowledgeable, respectful and just amazing people to deal with! I've already told many friends, coworkers and family members about this place and will continue to do so. Thank you B&R for helping me and for being 💯🔥...
