Let’s get it straight: new business opening and all 5 stars review so far? Must be faked to look good, right? WRONG. I’ve lived in Kirkwood for 3+ years (GA native) and my wife and I have seen businesses come and go in our little East Atlanta neck of the woods. So when Subway went out of business, we were really hoping that whatever replaced it wouldn’t just be another flop or generic restaurant that you can find anywhere around. I gotta tell ya…this place really knocks it out of the park.
Food: We both had the honey lemon pepper wing combos (mine traditional, wife had boneless) and now I can rest easy every night knowing I can get delicious wings for a very fair price. I had the 15 piece combo with fries for $18. With that price (you gotta take a second mortgage out for a 20 piece these days), I was skeptical, but it really exceeded my expectations. Great value, and delicious? That should be the golden standard for all food in the area tbh. Side note: while I don’t drink, my wife had 2 passion fruit margaritas and really liked them!
Service: a lot of times around ATL, you either get good food with bad service, or bad food with good service. Kirkwood Kravingz is an example of a business that wants their customers to feel comfortable. Everyone inside was nice, kind, and added that personal touch that other places miss. Food is all about culture and community, and they excel at making you feel welcome.
Atmosphere - the setup is cool and modern. Last time I was in this building, I had to eat a sandwich and stare at some early 2000’s stock images of an Italian on wheat! The old photos of a sandwich long forgotten are now replaced with cool pictures of Kirkwood, with a vintage picture of Kirkwood, and the businesses across the street. They also have a newspaper collage with the history of Kirkwood, which I felt was a nice touch. The music was good, people were friendly, and the vibes were vibin.
Only downside is that we’re walking distance and they serve breakfast burritos. Good for the business, but probably bad for my wallet (and my waist.) we will...
Read moreMy friend suggested we go here one day during the week. I was very excited to try them out especially since they were in the area I grew up in.
I will start with my cons and end with my pros.
Cons: the lady put my order in as take out without asking me so I ended up waiting over an hour for my food. Since I didn’t know, my food sat on the counter for a good minute and was eventually mistakenly handed to another customer that ordered to go. The lady that took the order was nice enough to bring the food back in but the lady behind the counter thought it would then be okay to walk that same god that the lady walked out the door with and opened, to me as I was sitting at the table… 😩 next issue, the snapper wrap was a waste of money. It was very scaly and had little actual amounts of fish. Lastly, my salad that I ate for lunch the next day had a spot of mold…
Pros: after me addressing my order what was surprisingly brought to me after being walked out the door and opened, I did not get any push back (as I was hoping). A guy walked over and apologized for the incident even though the woman never did. They have $5 happy hour on select drinks daily. The nachos were pretty good and my family enjoyed their food. The inside is small but the atmosphere was nice. The service was pleasant and they were patient with me ordering.
Overall, it was a good experience and I intend to continue visiting and trying...
Read moreI live in Kirkwood and been wanting to try to this place and I finally did with a buddy yesterday. The young lady behind the counter was very nice and patient with me as I couldn't decide on the flavor of wings I wanted. Service was great and the owner was extremely helpful and nice. My friend and I both ordered wings with fries. My friend ordered his wings with sweet potato fries and he really enjoyed his dish as well. The wings were a perfect size, fresh, crispy and the sauce (hot honey lemon pepper) was just the right combination. Don't get me started with the seasoned fries they were crispy and delicious. I can't wait to go back to try other items on the menu, but it'll be hard not to order the wings again. I just might have to order two things. lol Btw, the sweet tea was on point. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. The location is convenient with plenty of parking and next to a cool gas station in case you need...
