Country Lane General Store — Local services in Auburn

Country Lane General Store is a fantastic shop to go to if you would like to be accused of shoplifting with absolutely no proof, I was checking out when I was informed that there is a 10 dollar card minimum, so I had complied and was going to pick out a couple more cd’s to reach that limit. The owner of the store came up to me demanding that I hand over the merchandise that I put under my shirt. After I proved I had not stolen anything she apologized and went to the front. Already I thought that was terrible customer service but I decided to follow through with the purchase and met them at the counter to purchase my items. Just then I am met with two police officers who asked to speak with me in the back and basically prove my innocence. After the ordeal was done, I had decided to never shop here again after the harassment I had dealt with, the owner gave me two options “ You can continue to shop here, or you can stay the hell away.” her words not mine. I have been a regular customer for years, spending a small fortune to decorate my home with their overpriced items. You would think a small business like this would treat regular customers with the best respect and service. Over and over, the staff is rude, they argue about the prices they have on their items, and try to charge more than sticker priced! Just 20 minutes east in Grabill is a larger much more affordable and so friendly staff of people that run a huge shop! Go there people!! I will no longer be treated terribly at this...

My family loves shopping at Country Lane! There's something there for everyone, because they have so many vendors. It's my go to place when I'm shopping for gifts for loved ones, especially for out of state family, because they have such a considerable collection of local-made items.
