I had the 'pleasure' of being admitted to Doctor's hospital from 18 August to 21 August 24 for a relatively serious issue. While the ER waiting area is still no picnic, especially when in agonizing pain, the wait was only a couple of hours on a very early Sunday morning. Once admitted to the ER itself, it did not take the doctor long to find out what was going on. He broached the topic with me with solemnity and professionalism, and took the time to explain next steps.
I was then admitted to the CDU and.... I have never experienced such amazing healthcare professionals in all of my years. I know it sounds crazy, but you would think this place were a bed & breakfast considering how attentive and thoughtful the nursing staff was. I'm sure that I was an absolute joy to take care of, what with me in agony and pretty out of it due to painkillers, but those nurses were amazing nonetheless. Despite the painkillers, my memory is pretty decent for the total time I was in there, and here is what I experienced:
Clean conditions- The cleaning staff, at least in this area, were pretty on top of things.
Attentive nurses- This was the ultimate and most decisive factor in my recovery, both physically and mentally. These nurses did everything with a positive attitude and displayed a true 'can-do' spirit at all times, day or night. Nurses aren't required to smile or have good humor, especially given their responsibilities, but all of these did. They were prompt with medications, they gave excellent advice, and did what they could to keep spirits high. They were accommodating to my requests and helpful if it was something I was having trouble doing alone. They were extraordinarily respectful to family who was visiting as well. Oh, and perhaps most of all, when I had concerns or issues, the nurses brought it up with doctors who would then promptly follow up with me. I cannot say enough good about the nursing staff in the CDU, day and night. These guys rock and deserve more pay than whatever they are getting now.
Doctors- Every doctor that I saw seemed knowledgeable and genuinely concerned for my health. If a potential issue was brought up to them by myself or nursing staff, the doctors would soon follow-up with appropriate tests to check on things. Perhaps most importantly, the doctors would then go into detail with me to describe the results and offered a decent amount of time to allow me to get a quick Q&A so that I 100% understood what these things meant. I never felt rushed, or like I was not a priority. Also, I never felt like they were doing things for the sake of charging insurance, heh.
To close this out, I would like to call attention to 2 people who stood out to me, perhaps because they dealt with me when I was in the worst condition (and not annoying at all, I assure you o_0) and also because these 2 represent everything a nurse should strive to be:
Nurse Maria and Nurse Summer
These 2 were remarkable, and I truly believe my physical and mental health are better because they were on duty for those first couple of nights. I have never experienced (on military or civilian side) two healthcare professionals with such amazing bedside manner and such positive attitudes. Most importantly, I would say that based on my experience, you would be hard-pressed to find a more fierce advocate for patients than them. I will not soon forget my experience in CDU, but these guys will hold a special place there. Oh, and I found out that nurse Maria had taken care of my Mom a few years prior on a different floor with similar results, so consistency is there as well :D
Lastly, I'd like to mention that this has always been my hospital of choice for my mom as she has aged. I can think of very few bad experiences she or I has ever experienced here in comparison to other hospitals she has tried in the area. I cannot say how anyone else's experience will be, but I trust this place with my loved ones and with my own safety and health, and that is probably one of the biggest compliments that a person can give an...

I've had 2 week long stays on this Unit and upon each I received nothing but High Value Genuine Care from the Staff.. Dr. Ram 5/5. The man knows his stuff and insures that his patients receive the proper care tailored to them as an individual instead of some cookie cutter outlook...
The Nurses and Care Team 5/5
Jerika: You were made to do this job and just simple interactions with you show that it's not just a paycheck to you. Your Bubbley personality shines and definitely brightens those dark moments for your patients.
Candy: Interact with as many patients as you can because your demeanor, positive outlook and attentiveness are top tier. I can only speak for myself but not 1 single time did I feel as if I were bothering you whenever I asked for anything even if it was just a simple conversation. And that's exactly what patients need.
Dave: Dont tell this guy you couldn't find a good vein. 2 mins he got that blood work done. You're kind courteous and very knowledgeable about your field and you handle your patients with care.
Nikki: Again I can only speak for myself. But you went out of your way to make sure I had what I needed/wanted. You didn't have to be reminded even with the hustle and bustle you made sure you did what you said you'd do from the start of your shift. And you did it with a smile even though it was hiding behind protective mask it was still felt.
Dietary/Kitchen: Please please please stop bringing up warm sodas with meals lol. Only issue.. Staff is otherwise very pleasant.
Housekeeping: My rooms where CLEAN you hear me. Wasn't scared to touch a thing MS. SYLVIA in House Keeping. Your personality and and uplifting spirit is Highly contagious I truly appreciate your words of encouragement and i appreciate you keeping your word. I was being moved from downstairs and you said you'd come see me and you kept your word no matter how busy your day was. That meant alot to me Thank you so much.
NOW MS. Nissan. The travel nurse. You do NOT need to be working in this field at all... All I heard you do was Complain alllll night. Not a single smile in sight. Your Attitude has got to be the WORST I have ever experienced from anyone working in your position. You can 100% tell you only do this for the money you make because there is no way you enjoy your job or helping ppl with the way you act and carry yourself. If i was in your position there is absolutely no way I'd address a patient the way you addressed me and handled my simple request. It was as if I had done something to you personally even though we have had no interaction with eachother prior to that brief moment. It was disappointing and completely unacceptable. Im not usually one to file complaints but I made sure to file on you just to hear that I'm not the only patient that has made the same complaints but worse still it goes over to your peers and even visitors of patients. The fact you even still do this is astonishing. Please remove yourself and find another career because for you to be on the CARDIAC Unit where people are hearing the have issues with the most important organ and you act and treat them thay way. That's disgusting!
TO EVERYONE ELSE all the way to Ms. PAM In the...
Read moreI am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the care I received at Doctors Hospital of Augusta Emergency Room during my recent visit. As a truck driver passing through Georgia, I arrived at your facility on the recommendation of two medical doctors, including my brother who is a physician, to receive an ultrasound on my leg to rule out blood clots. I had already undergone a CT scan earlier that day at another facility, which ruled out clots in my lungs. I brought all relevant documentation with me and offered to share it, but the staff refused to even look at it.
From the beginning, the experience was disorganized and distressing. During triage, the nurse drawing my blood appeared inexperienced and caused unnecessary pain during the blood draw. Throughout my visit, I had to repeat the reason for my visit numerous times, which showed a clear lack of communication and coordination between staff.
The only positive experience I had was with the ultrasound technician. She was kind, knowledgeable, professional, and most importantlyâlistened to me. Her compassion and competence stood in stark contrast to the rest of the staff I encountered.
After the ultrasound was completed, I was ready to leave and willing to sign a form refusing further treatment, yet I was denied that right multiple times. I repeatedly asked to have the IV removed from my arm, and my requests were ignored. At one point, I considered removing it myself out of frustration. The attending physician finally came in and spoke to me in an aggressive, condescending manner, as though I was incapable of understanding my own medical needs. He dismissed the CT scan I had earlier in the day and questioned the legitimacy of my concerns by asking, âWho put the idea in your head about blood clots?â
This was deeply offensive and unprofessionalâespecially as it was my physician brother who advised me to get the ultrasound. Once I clarified that, the doctor suddenly changed his tone and admitted the ultrasound could have been done sooner had he known. That acknowledgment only confirmed what I already knew: I was not listened to.
To make matters worse, this interaction took place in front of my 9-year-old daughter, who was visibly upset when the doctor coldly stated, âYou could die,â after I refused a second CT scan. This experience was not only traumatic for me but also emotionally disturbing for my child.
Your ER failed me. I left feeling unheard, disrespected, and emotionally drained. The care I received lacked empathy, professionalism, and basic human decency. I should not have to fight to be respected and taken seriously as a patientâespecially when I am advocating for my health and presenting valid medical documentation. This experience raised my blood pressure and heightened my stress unnecessarily.
I will be requesting a formal investigation into the conduct of the staff and the doctor involved in my car. I will also be sharing this experience publicly to ensure others are made aware of the type of care they may receive at...
