I requested a noon check-in on 7/3/2021, so in route to the hotel, I checked into my room via the app; it said that I would receive my digital key shortly. I arrived to the hotel around 1:45 p.m. while noticing others waiting in the lobby to check-in. I made the front desk aware that I had already checked in using the app and she stated they were unable to grant my noon check-in and that check-in would not be until 3pm. Okay, that is fine even though they could have reached out prior to my arrival to inform me of this. I was pressed for time for an event I was attending, so I left to attend my event and continuously checked my phone for the digital key. At 3:30 I decided to call the hotel to inquire about the key and after 3 call attempts, I finally reached someone who instantly put me on hold; that hold was 20 minutes. I then hung up and called back 2 more times and finally reached someone else and I was then told that there was someone checking the rooms and once that was done, I would receive my digital key. My event was over at 7pm and I did not receive my digital key until well after 8pm AND my room I digitally checked into was changed from a 1st floor room to a 3rd floor. I chose a first floor room because I had my mother in law with me who has Parkinson Disease. Now I am beyond livid! She asked me not to make a fuss about it as we were all exhausted and just wanted to get at least an hour of hot tub and pool time. So I go directly to my re-assigned room to use my digital key and after SEVERAL attempts, it did not work. After going to the front desk, I was given a key to my room which is a complete inconvenience for the purpose of the app. Once able to get into the room, the beds were nearly made, pillow cases and sheets were clean, carpeted floor was clean. Room had somewhat of an musty odor but that was nothing disinfectant spray could not clear up. Now, the bathroom sink and toilet were clean but the bathtub/shower was not. There was hair on the sides and bottom and there was a used bath cloth hanging over the shower curtain. The bare floor was not clean either. At this point, I'm extremely disappointed for the service received versus the price I paid. To put the icing on the cake, there was no fridge or microwave in the room so we brought up the cooler we used at the event and used the microwave next to the front desk. In my opinion, if you are not going to supply each room with a microwave, then the lobby area of EACH floor should have access to one. We then proceed to go downstairs to relax in the hot tub and to my surprise, there was no longer a hot tub but instead a garden of plants were the hot tub WAS. The photos and amenities at this hotel clearly need to be updated. Our only option were the pools and they both were cloudy and dirty. At this point I am utterly disgusted. We then proceeded back upstairs so that I could clean the bathroom, of course with my personal cleaning supplies I take to any hotel. After all of that, we were finally able to get some sleep so that we could be out of that hotel at our earliest convenience after being so disappointed. To end this long review, I would like to add that I am a former Manager of a smaller chain hotel and I would NEVER allow my hotel to be this disorganized, unclean, unconcerned, and such an overly inconvenience to my guest. I will NEVER stay here nor recommend this hotel to even my worst enemy. DO BETTER DOUBLETREE. I expected...
Read moreWhere do I begin. When we arrived we were greeted by a cookie and from there it all went downhill . It was the turning point of our very brief stay at double tree. We booked the governmental suite, so you would think with that name you would be getting your money's worth. What we were greeted instead with was dusty furniture wine stained carpets and bath tub, dirty bathroom and dirty sheets with crumbs. My husband informed the front desk that the room was infact not ready for us and we would like "housekeeping" to come and clean the room and to provide us with new sheets and towels as these did not look clean and had crumbs. Also there was no hot water whatsoever, and no warning of such from front desk when we arrived. In hindsight I should have just left then but since we booked for a church function and others were staying I tried to make the best of it. 5 hrs later still no one has even attempted to bring us anything. No towels, sheets not a darn thing. I go to a local shop (earth fare which is great -sorry for the digression) and get food and some cleaning supplies. I mean if we are going to attempt to stick it out then I myself would not be bathing in a dirty shower and I needed to bathe after my long flight and drive from atl airport. I come back still nothing...my 2 yr old is sleepy and here's the kicker, I pull out the sofa bed that I am to put her to sleep in where there are nothing but crumbs that seemed to be there for quite some time, and I see nothing other than a bed bug. That s right folks bed bugs. I immediately went downstairs spoke with manager where he offered to put us in a different hotel. While the male manager was nice and cooperative and willing to help us, I later find out the female manager has reported to her guests unknowingly that they ofcourse would tell me that there were no bed bugs in my room and I was lying.
At this point I don't care because I am already out of the hotel. I find out the next morning abt 6 -10 different families check out 2 separate reports of bed bugs in suites where they were brought to the manager for evidence, mildew and mold, underwear in one room, and various other Unspeakable things. (Clearly i was "lying") While my family was fortunate to book through expedia and get our refund immediately those who realized their issues later than I, did not.
A worthy establishment would have issued a refund, or at very least once realizing their were significant problems being reported offer their guests to arrange at sister hotels or such (no money lost). But clearly when you read the other reviews there so nothing new under the sun, and they very well know that these problems are present and are simply robbing people blind, with no conscious. If you want to take a chance on unnecessary stress, heartache, financial burden, and possible health risk from this hazardous hotel then go right ahead and book here. If you are wise read the reviews of a hotel before hand and do not book simply because others are booking there. I will never make such a mistake again! This review will be going on every review list I can find, as it most certaintly was not worth staying there vut if I can save a person from experiencing what I and others went through Then I'm...
Read moreThis hotel is a mixed bag. I will start with the good.
Staff was generally very courteous and always greeted me when I passed them. That is where this hotel excelled.
Bed was comfortable. Linens were fresh and seemed fairly new. Massive flat screen TV. My room was in the corner of the top floor and was very quiet. The room had a little wear but was clean.
The outdoor pool was very nice and pleasant.
Parking is easy and very convenient location to anything you could need.
The cons: I used to work for Hilton branded properties and have been to more than I can count. I know the standards for each brand and have stayed at almost every one.
This hotel falls terribly short of being a DoubleTree property. The advertised bar, restaurants and coffee kiosk are no longer open. To complicate matters there is no fridge or microwave in the room. I was never even told any kind of breakfast is an option like any other hotel. The lobby is large but very dead and devoid of life, just some chairs.
No cookie was offered which DoubleTree markets itself on.
My biggest issue was the digital checkin. I picked my room well in advance and requested a 3pm checkin and was planning to go straight up to my room. I waited in the lobby 5-10 minutes but still no digital key. Was informed room was ready that I had requested. I was nicely offered another room. I got upstairs by 3:20, couldn’t get in the door with the key card or my phone. The batteries on the lock were dead. Went back downstairs and maintenance was called. He was nice and polite. By about 3:50pm I was finally in my room I was moved to but almost an hour later than my requested checkin. This was the only issue I had with the staff. I was not offered anything for the inconvenience and I am a Hilton Honors Gold member (not bragging, just adding that apparently brand loyalty isn’t a concern here.
For what I paid, this was a disappointment. I didn’t need the lobby restaurants or bar etc but this hotel is NOT what is advertised. For a brand that places everything on amenities, none exist here. My main issue was the delayed checkin, I have a medical condition and really needed to lay down as I was very tired.
TLDR; no restaurants, no bar, no coffee kiosk as advertised, and no fridge or microwave in the room which almost every brand and level of hotel has. You will find more amenities at Hampton Inn. I didn’t need these, but the hotel is misleading guests that may. You have an overall great staff (outside of the front desk checkin) but it’s a shame what they’re having to work with. The issues I had at checkin were forgivable if I could have at least gotten some kind of apology or compensation for not getting in my room until an hour after the guarantee checkin time...
