I visited Laniers Meat Market in Augusta ga today 4/30/2025 around 1 or 2 pm. I was being helped by the black female behind the order counter, she was getting some for me bacon, when I asked her if they carried goat or lamb meat, she never answered or I should I say she ignored me then one of her co workers asked me if I was being helped. I responded yes then I asked the employee if she heard my question, she responded with you are the only one talking. I am not even sure what that meant or when I have been more insulted in years, not that I was expecting some kind of special service because we were both people of color, but I know thats not how you are supposed to treat a patron of your establishment. I have been visiting Laniers Meats for about 4 or 5 years, easily spending thousands of dollars there and its an hour plus drive for me but I am not sure if today was not my last time visiting, because that type of behavior is unacceptable. I do know one right I have in this country and it is to be able to spend my money where its appreciated. Lastly as I was leaving the lady was coming out the side door so maybe, I was holding up from her break nevertheless. Its a sad day for me and so...
Read moreI did enjoy going to this store. The people there were very nice, and it looked like there were some decent cuts of stuff. The biggest thing we noticed was the cuts of beef in the butcher case. Many were cut extremely thin and contain large chunks of hard fat on them. The t-bones appeared to have bone fragments all over them from being cut. We ended up going with ribeyes, which turned out to be a mistake. The meat would not pick up a char, despite sitting on the hot grill for several minutes. We ended up cooking it to medium in hopes of the meat browning. Instead, it cooked to an unappetizing gray color. The texture itself was very off-putting, it was spongy and rubbery at the same time. I'm sure there are other cuts of meat they have that turn out just fine when cooked, but between the look of the beef cuts in the case and the outcome of the cooked steak, we won't...
Read moreWe're newer in the Augusta area and my husband and I have been wanting to stop in and finally had the opportunity. I wasn't sure what to expect but we're always looking for something that makes you feel like you've come home and this place didn't disappoint! We were looking around and were approached by Mr. Wayne Lanier asking if we could use any assistance, he then proceeded to show us around. He told us all about how most are the items are sourced locally which we absolutely value. I can't say enough not only does it have a tremendous selection of anything you could need but the hospitality not only of the owner but the employees was something I haven't seen or experienced in too long so we were just absolutely amazed and appreciated...
