I co signed for my son a car on October 28th 2022. We financed a Chevy Cruize that had 176,000 miles on it for 12,229. We were at the dealership until 8pm. They were closing as we were leaving. We live in Joplin MO. an hour away. I left first and my son was behind me on 1-44. I saw his lights flashing behind me so I pulled over and he pulled over and the car had black smoke rolling out from under the hood... we had no way of getting the car home, we had no choice but to leave it on the side of the highway. They were closed so we had to wait until the next day to get help. Since then the car has broke down 3 other times. We just got the car back on 09/30/23. We drove it home and it sat there until this morning, when driving to work the check engine light came on AGAIN...... the car smells like motor oil when you drive it. It barley shifts gears. I called them to come pick it up and I want nothing else to do with the car. They tell me I still owe the entire amount of the car loan, almost 9,000 dollars. For a car that needs to be in the scrap yard. They will not work with me and I have filed a complaint with the BBB and with the attorney General. I am a mother of 5 little boys, and my only car broke down. It was going to cost over $1000 to fix, and considering it was an 18 year old car with lots of other issues, my best option was to buy a newer vehicle. I looked around a little, but a friend recommended Charge a Car in Aurora. I was sure I would get denied because of my nonexistent credit experience, but decided to give it a try anyway. I've never leased a car, and always paid cash for (very) used vehicles, so I wasn't expecting much luck with anything nice or new. I was so wrong! As soon as I walked in the door I could tell it was going to be different. Tom and Chris both were so informative and commited to working with us to get us in a vehicle that we would be happy with.They did end up telling us that they didn't have anything in our price range currently, but they'd keep their eyes open. This is the absolute worst place I have ever had the displeasure of visiting. It took 3 hours for them to finally tell me their prices. Fill out this paperwork, that paperwork, make you wait around, get insurance papers, etc. Than overprice me by $7,000! He stated we are a little above fair market value due to the risk we have to take. I'm sorry but a Ford Taurus that is around 2004 blue books for around $2,500 for a third party sell. They said $9,500 or you can buy this nicer vehicle that's newer for a little more. Bait and switch like a mother! DO NOT do business with them. They use people's bad situations and take advantage of them. Also will waste your time. If I could get them 1/10th of a star I would. Totally don't deserve...
