This community is aesthetically pleasing it is modern with top notch amenities, we were very impressed by the open spacious floor plans. We were greeted by Jospeh, 10 minutes before closing time we were that “last minute walk ins” Joseph managed to show us a couple of floor plans and all the amenities. We are ready and eager to lease the apartment. The Asher is almost hotel resort style living it has a yoga studio, bike station, conference room, business center and the posh lobby is impressive with complimentary coffee and chai. I was very impressed with everything had a good guided informative tour, thanks Jospeh! We are looking forward to living there soon!
Update after living here a year NOV 2024 REVISED REVIEW. A Mix of Highs and Lows at Asher Apartments
I’ve lived at the Asher Apartments on and off for a few months at a time, and while I’ve enjoyed some aspects, there are definitely concerns potential renters should be aware of.
Let me start with the positive: the staff is absolutely incredible. They go above and beyond whenever they can, and although they’re always busy, once you get the chance to speak to them directly, they are attentive and very helpful. For example, I once had an issue with smells coming through the shared ventilation system (yes, unfortunately, you can smell anything from cooking to cigarette smoke, even marijuana, from neighboring units). After spending $500 on air filters, the management was kind enough to reimburse me for half of that cost. The problem, however, continued despite their efforts.
The location is also extremely convenient, especially for my family’s needs. Being close to Texas Children’s Hospital is crucial for us, as our child requires frequent therapy. This proximity is a big reason we continue to live here.
However, security is a major issue. There have been several break-ins and package thefts. I personally lost thousands of dollars when our garage was broken into, and we later discovered that garage clickers are somehow programmed to open multiple units, which explains why my garage was frequently found open even when I was sure I had closed it. The walking gate by the pet spa is also always broken, which unfortunately makes it easy for homeless individuals to wander into the complex. The transient nature of residents moving in and out regularly adds to the feeling of instability.
Despite these issues, we renewed our lease primarily because of the location and the staff, but it’s hard to ignore the high crime rate and the frequent disturbances. The luxurious amenities and beautiful layout are great, but for the price, you could likely find a safer, more reliable place to live.
To anyone considering moving here, I would recommend doing your research—check the crime reports, and if you have a garage, consider deactivating the clicker and using it manually. For us, it’s a place that’s convenient, but certainly not without its downfalls
If I had more time to physically be in the states and physically visit other communities, I would not have signed another lease however, I’m not physically there all of the time so please do your research. Look at the reviews the listing the crime rate reports from the Austin police department , and try to advocate on behalf so that you are not victimize the way I was and lost thousands of dollars worth of my hard earned income and personal belongings thank you for reading my review and I hope that this helps anyone who is considering moving into this community if all you care about is the customer service and this is the place for youif you have children or if you’re planning on staying here for a very long time, please do your...
Read morePros: -Had the experience of being the first to reside in their second floor unit; overall, the unit was clean at move-in -Gym amenities. The gym (both floors) is pretty spacious! And with the complex being on the newer side, the available machines and equipments were also new -Had neighbors on all sides of our unit, but barely was able to hear them! The walls appeared to have been pretty well soundproofed, aside from the occasional normal noticeable sounds from heavier steps or dropped items. -Latch system. This apartment uses the Latch app as its fob which was nice as long as you had your phone on you. I’m indifferent to this, but I know some people prefer this offer this traditional fob!
Cons: -This was one my biggest issues living here: the lack of communication regarding what I believe was critical information to share to residents. There were crime-related events that occurred at this apartment complex (scroll below for another resident’s review post that provides further insight) and I only knew anything about it because other residents have shared this news. If it was not for the residents, I believe that we would have not known anything about these events as management did not send any emails or notices about them. It was scary and uncomfortable as the silence from the apartment was quite loud on this issue. Whether it was related to the apartment or not, it would have been appreciated to receive some kind of message from the apartment to reassure the residents’ and their safety. -Parking garage and bike rack break-ins/theft alerts -Frequent fire alarms. I do not blame the apartment complex as a whole for this as these fire alarm triggers may have been out of their control. However, waking up in the middle of a work night/weekday night (past midnight) and having work meetings be interrupted due to the fire alarms being triggered was not pleasant. -Lack of front desk consideration. When I needed to receive and activate a new garage sticker during the apartment’s business hours, I recall waiting at the front desk over 40 minutes even though the staff members were in the office and had a clear view of the lobby and saw us waiting as eye contact was made. There were no paper/desk/door/etc. signs to inform that they were possibly in a meeting, no action of stepping out of the office to notify us about their availability, and no apologies for having us wait when they came out. -Removed ability to use security cameras (Ring, Blink, etc.) without providing information for the decision. Tying it to my first con (crime events) along with stories I have heard about packages being stolen, I believe continuing to allow residents to use doorbell cameras would provide an extra layer of safety because of the presence of these issues at this apartment. -Had to reach out to receive information regarding lease renewal status. From my past experiences with living in various other apartments, the staff have sent the email regarding lease renewal before the deadline mark. However, we had to reach out to The Asher to receive any information about this. It left us wondering if we did not reach out, then would we have received a...
Read moreI lived at the Asher for 15 months, and I was the first resident in my unit and one of the first in the apartment complex, so I feel pretty qualified to review it.
Pros: The community is fantastic. It's one of the friendliest group of people I've lived near. The Apartment Life group throws really nice community events that are family friendly. People in the apartment are welcoming, often hosting unofficial events themselves. Soundproofing is quite good. Wall to wall it's a little worse, but to the hallway it's actually very good. New build, which is a pro and a con. Amazing maintenance staff. Scott and Randy are MVPs of this complex. They respond quickly and solve problems. Front staff: The CURRENT staff are all very friendly. A pretty good referral program for an apartment. Cons: When it was a newer build, it was clear that the foundations were not pest sprayed. We had huge ant problems that have since gotten better. There are still ants in the pool area occasionally. This hasn't been a problem in-unit since 2023, but I did have to do my own pest control there. The first floor often has bugs of various kinds in the hallways. Can't really be helped. Other minor new build move in problems that you have to look for (Scott and Randy always helped us out) - missing peg caused our shelf to collapse and broke some glasses; our fridge filter wasn't new; some stuff like that. The biggest one was that our breaker wasn't rated for a spark igniter for the heat. Took a week or two to solve why our breaker kept tripping in the winter! The old management was awful. They used to yell at us for using the common spaces! We cleaned up and didn't leave any mess. That individual has since left, though. Random fire alarms going off during the day or at night. Eh, it happens in an apartment. Only 5-6 times during my year there. No ring cameras allowed. This may be a con - I've never had problems, though. Fetch. Fetch sucks. This delivery service is a waste of money and WILL lose packages. I've literally had them take a photo of my box outside a totally different colored unit. I have no idea how they price things, but when I was offered renewal, there was discrepancies to current unit prices. They've added fees that they didn't have when I originally moved in, like a garage fee. They've limited spaces in the garage with reserved spaces, without offering us a chance to have one (and in fact we were told at initial touring that they wouldn't implement them!). Time will tell what other hidden costs may come up.
Overall, the Asher was a very friendly place to live and has great proximity to local conveniences. I still have friends there and the reason I left was unrelated to any...
