Not even worth the one star. Four days after Dorian hit, I called from Virginia to buy 10 a/c window units which they had plenty of them in stock. I had a high school friend who would be waiting at the ferry in Ocracoke to pick them up. I offered to buy the window units and to pay them a extra $300 to drive them 20 mins south to the ferry and put them on. They didn't even have to take the ferry. The lady on the phone gave me attitude from the beginning. I pleaded to her that these ac units were for elderly people with no power but had generators and they needed them badly. She put me on hold and took my number but never called back. This is a shame, because the ocokers I know would have jumped at the chance to help their fellow neighbors. The owner of the true value in Ocracoke would have done it in a heartbeat if the situation was reversed and with zero attitude....

Normally I would have given this store 5 stars. I have frequented the place for years, except recently. It was clearly advertised online the store was open until 6pm. Last time I was in the store, I was approached at 5:45 and was told the store has been closed for 15 minutes and I needed to get out. I said no problem, I'm all set, I just need one more item, but was again told to get out. I complained at the register, but was given a sob story about them being over worked. When I was leaving, I was told don't come back. Interesting thing is they recently updated their hours online to 7am to 7pm. So why was I kicked out in such a cold mean...

We called to see if they had an item, and they did. And we were rushing to get there by 6pm from 20 miles away. She said they close at 6:00 sharp. We asked if they might wait as we are hurrying, and would be there by 6:01 latest. And she said, if it's before 6:00 then ok. Due to stopping in a line of cars at the traffic light just before the store at 5:58, I walked in the door at 6:01. They refused to sell anything as it was 6:01.
