I'm an OLD DISABLED, AUTISTIC WEREWOLF COOT of nearly sixty years. I can prove how old I really am. I remember this place when it was called, THE BALTIMORE CENTRAL MARYLAND LEAGUE FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN AND ADULTS. I remember when the building had a HUGE metal depiction of a disabled kid walking with canes in a helmet on the side of the building. I remember the old Easter Seals symbol on one building. I went to Camp Greentop. I swam in the Malcolm Hecht Swimming Pool many happy Saturday mornings growing up. I went to the many socials back in my day.
The League for People has a vast and storied history of excellent service to the ENTIRE disabled community. The League opened its programs welcoming and affirming black disabled children like me back in the 1960's when doing so took LOVE & GUTS. For this I will ALWAYS LOVE AND RESPECT THE LEAGUE AS A BLACK DISABLED MAN THEY HELPED 50 years ago when I was a CONFUSED little black disabled autistic kid. It might not be politically correct to say disabled anymore but I am old and disabled loving every bit of who I am.
Today I am a fully realized autistic dude with, cerebral palsy, brain damage and other disabilities. I learned to be the successful man making good money in a awesome job, living on my own in part based on my experiences here. In 2019 and beyond the League continues its mission helping unique people be the best they can be. Much of my success today is owed to the League that saw my value before I knew I had value as a disabled man. The League deserves any help it can get, they are the BEST!!!

Read moreI give this place one star . Had an event over the weekend and the day before the League notified me saying they had overbooked for the same day . Asked me to use another room and/ or move the event to another day. I moved the to another room and although they were pretty ok with moving things around for me the promised a full refund for the inconvenience. Giving my baby shower turned out great. Waiting for the refund was not. A lot of miscommunication with the staff or no one answering. Leaving voicemails inquiring about the refund and no more has gotten back to me. Telling me my refund would be available on a certain day turned into it was mailed out. Just a lot of giving me the run around on a mistake they've clearly made. I would not recommend this place just based off of the miscommunication within the staff and how much it's a hassle just to talk to someone in management. How they were so promising everything would be ok but when it was time for them to do their part it was very frustrating just for someone to give me basic...
Read moreI found the league through Good Samaritan Hospital. The pool was 90°, the whirlpool was 102. I have never found the pool crowded. There were classes for beginners. The pool has all the water exercise equipment that you may need at your disposal. You're not alone There's Always someone to help. I found the environment as clean as my own Hospital. There is a weight room area that has a large assortment of equipment that will work on any and every muscle that may need support. With one word there is a associate who is happy to assist, also there is a large assortment of free weights for those more advanced. I take this time today to write this review because this is an environment with a community that makes you want to get up every day to get stronger and healthier. Here at the The League it's truly All About You. We're just a family trying to get back to enjoying life. Oh!
